Red Sox Predicted to Trade Important Outfielder to Braves for Top Prospect Haul

The Boston Red Sox are off to a poor start to the 2026 campaign, but is there still time to turn it around? Absolutely, with 150+ games remaining on the schedule, it’s hard to draw conclusions from 10 games, but Boston can’t afford to fall too far behind in an already tough division.

Sorry, Red Sox fans, but Jarren Duran is still gaining speculation across MLB as a top trade candidate. A recent MLB mock trade by SI.com’s Thomas Carelli features the Atlanta Braves and Red Sox linking up on a deal that sends Duran to Atlanta for two prospects.

Is this something the Red Sox should consider after the slow start? Or is Jarren Duran still too valuable to let go?

Red Sox-Braves Trade Idea Offloads Jarren Duran

Per Carelli, here is the full trade breakdown:

“Braves Get:

Red Sox Get:

While Carelli doesn’t indicate who the prospects are, Heavy on Sports can go ahead and complete this hypothetical trade package by adding Tate Southinese and Didier Fuentes to the deal, as those are two of the Braves’ top four prospects, according to MiLB.com.

The idea of trading away Jarren Duran has gained many different angles of discourse. With the logjam in the outfield, Duran is probably the *best* outfielder the Red Sox have in terms of total body of work.

There’s a fair argument to be made on why he could be traded, but considering there hasn’t been any traction in terms of official reports from MLB insiders, the Red Sox probably aren’t thinking about a potentially blockbuster deal right now. However, if Boston continues to struggle out of the gates, a mindset change might be in store. Craig Breslow is an active MLB president of baseball operations, but that hasn’t always translated well.

Who Says No to This Potential Deal?

GettyJarren Duran could be the odd man out in a packed Red Sox outfield.

The Boston Red Sox were very active in the trade market during the offseason, whereas the Braves were not. Still, the Red Sox would likely be the one to shut down this trade idea.

It’s an enticing trade package, but given Jarren Duran’s contract situation, Boston would be taking a big flyer on two young prospects that the Braves are giving up, and it could end up hurting Boston if Duran thrives in another environment.

Plus, the Red Sox and their fans…. should be scarred about past trades they’ve recently made.
