Ruben Amorim is excited to welcome Matheus Cunha to Old Trafford and believes Manchester United are signing a ‘perfect’ player for a ‘fair price’, according to reports.
It was reported on Monday morning that United were closing in on a deal for Wolves and Brazil playmaker Cunha.
Cunha has verbally agreed to join the Red Devils despite interest from United’s Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
The final details of his United contract are being finalised but Cunha is expected to sign a long-term deal at Old Trafford in the coming days.
Cunha signed a contract extension with Wolves towards the end of the January transfer window but made an agreement with the Midlands club that he would be sold this summer.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 31 goals over the past two seasons, has a release clause worth £62.5m.
Cunha has been one of the standout players at Wolves since arriving in the Premier League from Atletico Madrid in 2022.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Amorim and his Manchester United coaches view Cunha as a ‘perfect’ addition to the club and his favoured 3-4-3 system.
Decision-makers at United are also said to believe that the money they will pay for Cunha is ‘fair, not excessive’.
Cunha’s impressive numbers at Molineux come despite Wolves fighting a relegation battle for much of the season.
Paul Scholes on Man Utd signing Matheus Cunha
Legendary Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes rates Cunha but ‘worries’ where the Brazilian will fit in at Old Trafford.
‘He looks like he’s got the attributes that Ruben Amorim wants,’ he told TNT Sports earlier this month.
‘He knows that physically, his team are just not strong or quick enough, so Matheus Cunha is obviously athletic, and he’s got quality with 15 league goals this season.
‘I just worry for any signing coming to Manchester United at the minute. It just feels like it’s such a bad place to go.
‘The quality of play right now is so poor. And with Cunha, is he a centre-forward or is he a wide player?
‘There’s no doubt that he has quality and of course, it would be nice to sign him, but I worry about where he fits in.
‘You can sign the best three players in the world, and I think they’ll struggle coming into this team at the minute, but they’ve got to start somewhere.’
Cunha urged to reconsider Man Utd move
Cunha looks set to join a Manchester United side who have slipped to 16th in the Premier League this season.
Despite their dismal domestic form, Amorim’s side could yet finish the season with a major trophy and qualify for the Champions League as they face Tottenham in the Europa League final.
That would be a huge boost to Manchester United but Cunha should still reconsider his decision to join the club this summer, according to Don Goodman.
‘I wonder whether Matheus Cunha should have reservations about signing for Manchester United,’ the Sky Sports pundit told BoyleSports.
‘At this moment, if I were Matheus Cunha, I would be questioning whether it would be a good move right now joining Manchester United, who have a lot of ground to make up and rebuilding to do to get where he wants to be.
‘So I’d understand if he had reservations about moving to Old Trafford. I think he’s a top player who could play for any team in the Premier League or in Europe.
‘That’s how good I think he is. He needs to sort his head out at times, which is a separate issue, but Manchester United would be very lucky to have him.
‘From his perspective, and I’m not dismissing the history and tradition of United, I’d be shocked if Matheus Cunha didn’t have options to join better teams.’
