Russell Wilson’s Giants Post Turns Heads Over Summer Break

New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson was able to get the majority of the NYG offense together for a summer workout ahead of training camp.

Wilson went public with the coordinated meet-up on Instagram on July 9, sharing photos and videos of on-field passing drills and gym sessions. Fans responded positively with over 30,000 likes in a little over 24 hours.

Although it’s hard to make out every Giant who was in attendance — and some are not clearly visible in the group photo — Wilson tagged the following offensive skill position players in the post.

After the initial photo, the video clips featured a one-handed highlight-reel touchdown from Wilson to Slayton and a smooth corner route TD to Nabers (according to his video tags). Tight end Daniel Bellinger was also tagged in one of the gym session videos.

While these summer workouts are by no means mandatory, it’s always nice to see Giants players getting together to build chemistry and hone their craft. In this case, the former Super Bowl champion QB was able to organize a huge turnout in San Diego.

Giants Insider Hints at Reason Jaxson Dart Is Absent From Russell Wilson’s Summer Workout Photo

For those wondering why Dart is tagged in the post but not seen in any of the photos or videos, NorthJersey.com Giants insider Art Stapleton offered a potential reason on July 10.

“Jaxson Dart flew back to Oxford for his youth camp today after spending the last few days training in San Diego at the Russ [Wilson] estate with Giants teammates,” Stapleton reported. Adding: “Pretty cool. Rookies report for training camp Tuesday in NJ.”

So, for anyone searching for some sort of Wilson-Dart drama ahead of Giants training camp, there isn’t one. In fact, the only quarterback absent from Wilson’s summer workout was fourth-stringer Tommy DeVito.

The more integral trio of Wilson, Winston and Dart appear to be getting along swimmingly so far. And it’ll be very interesting to see if the Giants elect to keep all three quarterbacks on the roster heading into Week 1.

Giants Training Camp Is Just Around the Corner: Key Dates to Know

The Giants shared their training camp schedule on X on July 10, highlighting key dates for fans to know.

Practices open to the public begin on July 23 and run for three days, from July 23 through the 25th. After an off day, the Giants then pick back up on July 27 for another three-day stretch. The next off day after July 26 is July 30.

There will be another three practices from July 31 through August 2 after that, followed by one isolated practice on August 4 and a joint practice with the Jets (at home) on August 13.

This graphic does not list the Giants’ preseason games. But they are scheduled for Saturday, August 9, at 1 p.m. (ET). Saturday, August 16, at 7 p.m. (ET). And finally, Thursday, August 21, at 8 p.m. (ET).

The opponents are the Buffalo Bills, Jets, and New England Patriots, in that order.

Giants fans will get their first real taste of Jaxson Dart and Russell Wilson at these open practices. The rookie should also see plenty of preseason snaps, although it’s unclear if the veteran starter will play at all during the preseason.
