Ryan Garcia Reveals Why Jon Jones is More Reliable Than McGregor for White House

Ryan Garcia recently shared his thoughts on the UFC’s White House event and claimed Jon Jones is more reliable than Conor McGregor. The boxing star explained why Jones could be more trustworthy for Dana White.

White made headlines when he dismissed the idea of ‘Bones’ competing at the historic event. The UFC CEO claimed that Jones was unreliable for such an important spot. Meanwhile, he praised ‘The Notorious’ for being a reliable fighter who has always shown up for the promotion regardless of circumstances.

During an interview with Covers, Garcia reacted and felt it was the opposite. He claimed Jones is actually the more reliable fighter in that spot. The boxing star credits ‘Bones’ for being the MMA GOAT and feels that should warrant a matchup at the White House event.

“I love Jon. He just reminds me of myself in a way, very talented and just an animal in everything he does. I think I would say Jon is more reliable, for sure. He’s had the most recent fight,” Garcia said. “He’s probably the greatest UFC fighter of all time, so he needs to get paid, right? So, I would say Jon is a more reliable guy.”

Ryan Garcia Explains Why Conor McGregor Wouldn’t Be as Reliable as Jon Jones

Ryan Garcia was honest with his criticism of Conor McGregor and why he wouldn’t be as reliable as Jon Jones. The boxing star pointed out their activity as a key reason why ‘The Notorious’ may not be the right choice for such an important event.

Speaking with Covers, ‘King Ryan’ praised McGregor for being the biggest star in the sport. However, he doesn’t have the best track record after he withdrew from his bout with Michael Chandler last year.

“[McGregor] is the biggest UFC fighter of all time. It would make sense [for him to fight at the White House], but again, how much can you trust him at this point? It’s hard,” Garcia said. “It’s a big gamble. He always pulls out of fights.”

It’s important to note that although McGregor withdrew from his bout with Chandler, he had never withdrawn from any fights before that.

Garcia Says He and Jones Share Many Similarities

Garcia also opened up about his relationship with Jones and their interactions with each other. He said that the two of them have very similar personalities.

‘King Ryan’s issues outside the ring have been well documented. However, nobody can deny the elite-level fighter he is inside the ring. He sees the same with Jones, who despite issues in his personal life, remains among the most dominant UFC champions in history.

The boxing star highlighted that similarity between them, praising Jones for his dedication to being the best.

“[Jones and I] get along really well, we have similar personalities,” Garcia told Covers. “We also want to get down in fighting, too, so that’s what I kind of see, a little bit of the similarities.”

He continued:

“[Jones is] very crafty, very elusive, so kind of like me. But, yeah, I think just our friendliness,” Garcia said. “You wouldn’t imagine him as the beast he is, and how friendly he could be with a lot of people.”
