The San Francisco 49ersâ wins over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 and New Orleans Saints in Week 2 were gutsy and hard-fought, especially given how many key 49ers offensive players have been sidelined.Â
Brock Purdy, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Demarcus Robinson have missed at least one of the two games. Jauan Jennings and Kyle Juszczyk also missed significant game time with injuries.Â
But the 49ersâ Faithful fans, perhaps sensing that their team needed an extra boost, have turned out in record numbers for the first two road games.Â
Jennings revealed just how key that is for him personally during his postgame press conference.Â
âEverywhere we go and we see 49ers fans it just turns me up,â Jennings said. âIt kills me if I canât play knowing that we got all these old faithful here. Thatâs what itâs about.âÂ
Jennings Had A Great Offensive Performance
Jauan Jennings, who was questionable to even play earlier in the week with a shoulder injury, was the 49ersâ leading receiver in their 26-21 win against New Orleans.Â
Working with new quarterback Mac Jones, Jennings hauled in 5 passes for 89 yards. That included a 42-yard touchdown that was ultimately the game winner.Â
After his long touchdown catch and run, Jennings leapt into a sea of 49ers fans to show his appreciation for their passionate support.Â
In two games, Jennings had 7 catches for 105 yards and the one touchdown to his name.Â
He is the 49ersâ most proven, healthy receiver amidst the Aiyuk and Kittle injuries. Jennings had a breakout year in 2024, with career highs in catches (77), yards (975) and touchdowns (6).Â
Alongside second-year pro Ricky Pearsall, Jennings is trying to provide some sense of stability for Jones amidst an otherwise young, inexperienced and unproven offense.Â
Jenningsâ Comments Are Great To See After The Offseason
Jauan Jenningsâ shoutout to 49ers faithful as his biggest motivation will likely win back the hearts of some fans who arenât too happy with him after the offseason.Â
Jennings and the 49ers front office stubbornly fought over a contract dispute for most of the offseason. He requested a trade or a new contract just one offseason after the 49ers gave Aiyuk a big raise.Â
He was also nursing a calf injury that kept him out for much of the preseason, adding to the frustration on all sides.Â
Ultimately, Jennings got neither a trade nor a new contract, instead receiving an increase in his contract incentives ahead of the season.Â
The 49ers are reportedly still hoping to extend Jenningsâ contract during the season.Â
Most 49ers faithful ultimately understand that Jennings harbors no ill feelings towards 49ers management. He wants to stay in San Francisco, he just also wants to get paid what he feels that he deserves in the process.Â
This Sundayâs comments only made it more clear that Jennings and San Francisco are a perfect match.Â
49ers fans, what did you think about Jauan Jenningsâ performance against the Saints, and so far this season in general? Do you want to see him get a contract extension soon?Â
