The Seattle Seahawks are becoming healthier in their secondary. As a result, former Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen could be the odd-man out.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday other NFL teams at least consider that a possibility. Rapoport posted on social media teams are “monitoring” Woolen’s situation with the Seahawks because of potential interest in acquiring him.
“Woolen’s playing time has diminished, and in a contract year, teams believe he could be available,” posted Rapoport on X.
The Seahawks played Thursday in Week 4, which gives them extra rest ahead of their next matchup. Second-round rookie defensive back Nick Emmanwori could return from an ankle injury in Week 5.
Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon was back on the field for Seattle on Thursday after missing two games. The Seahawks also have other options in the secondary they like that could make Woolen expendable.
“The emergence of Josh Jobe and Derion Kendrick, a late waiver claim, makes trading Riq Woolen something to consider,” wrote Rapoport.
Woolen made the Pro Bowl as a rookie for the Seahawks in 2025. This season, he has posted 14 combined tackles with one pass defense in four games.
