Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp Sends Strong Message to Sam Darnold After Rams Loss

One of the most anticipated matchups of Week 11 was, without a doubt, the divisional clash between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks at SoFi Stadium, with both teams sporting an impressive record of 7-2.

First place in the NFC West was on the line on Sunday, with the consensus being that this was a fairly even matchup between two of the best teams in the conference. However, in the end, it was the Rams that came out on top on their home field, as Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold struggled, throwing four interceptions in the three-point loss on the road.

Even though the Seahawks lost arguably the biggest game of the season thus far, with Darnold failing to throw a touchdown pass and turning the ball over four times, the veteran quarterback is getting tremendous support from his teammates, including star wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

During his postgame press conference, Kupp had high praise for Darnold’s ability to keep fighting despite his struggles against the Rams on Sunday.

“That’s not an easy thing to do,” Kupp said of Darnold’s resiliency. “You just continue to battle, continue to be the same guy. I’ve said it before, he’s steady, and the trials he’s been through, they’re not for no reason. There’s purpose and he’s learned lessons and knows that there’s waves … there’s going to be plays you want back but all you can do is keep coming back, keep firing.

“He did a phenomenal job continuing to be that steady presence for us and continuing to lead us. I know he’s going to be pissed about some of the decisions and things like that or whatever it is, but man, to be able to come back and be able to play the way he did there at the end of the game is really impressive.”

Considering it was a rough day for Darnold due to the turnovers, it is impressive that he was able to keep the team afloat, losing by only three points against a formidable opponent, which bodes well for the Seahawks moving forward.

Cooper Kupp Reflects on Facing the Rams

GettyHead coach Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams speaks with Cooper Kupp #10 of the Seattle Seahawks.

Along with Sunday’s game having big implications for the battle for the NFC West division title, it was a special game for Kupp, who was facing his former team and the field where he had achieved so much success during his career.

“Yeah, definitely different,” Kupp said of facing his old team. “It was good seeing some guys come out early, and it was good seeing some of the guys over there, but it was nice to get into the pregame routine and that build-up. So used to just building up into being locked in for the game. So once the game started, it was just about playing football.”

With the Rams and Seahawks being among the league’s elite teams, there’s a chance they meet in the NFL playoffs, with the season on the line.
