The holiday spirit is high this year, and the Seattle Mariners Ownership Group is getting in on the giving. On December 16th, 2025, the group announced it will match donations made to Home Team Harvest through the end of the year.
Home Team Harvest
Home Team Harvest is celebrating its 25th year as Washington’s signature annual food and fund drive. Northwest Harvest in partnership with KING 5, presents this annual campaign with support from Safeway, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, Kitsap Credit Union, Warm 106.9, and many other community organizations across the state.
With a goal of raising $5 million to support food access across Washington, the Seattle Mariners Ownership group has stepped up to help. Generously, they will match every donation made to the Home Team Harvest, up to $100,000.
The announcement came on Thursday afternoon through KING 5 News. Nova Newcomer, the CEO of Mariners Care Foundation, and Thomas Reynolds, CEO of Northwest Harvest, shared the update.
“This is going to go a really long way because the need is really high this year,” Reynolds said. “This has been a really difficult year. We’re looking for financial donations, volunteer time, and then people giving food. These food drives, even the food drives we do with the Mariners, make such a difference. It’s a way for community come together for the tremendous need right now.”
“We are proud to have not only the best fans in baseball, but also such generous fans who buoyed our efforts on-and-off the field during a magical 2025 season,” said Newcomer in a statement.
Earlier in December, the Mariners Care Foundation donated $100,000 to Home Team Harvest on behalf of Mariners fans. The donation came from proceeds of the team’s 2025 50/50 Raffle, which raised $2.5 million throughout the season, including $900,000 during the Mariners’ postseason run alone.
To have donations matched, Home Team Harvest offers a convenient online giving platform. Supporters can also contribute by donating food, or purchasing grocery cards. Other options include hosting food drives, or volunteering time.
Mariners Care Foundation
The Seattle Mariners are no strangers to charitable actions. Through the Mariners Care Foundation, the organization supports the community in a wide variety of ways. Additionally, the foundation prominently displays their mission on their social media platforms.
“We strive to be a trusted partner, ensuring our communities are places where everyone can thrive. Official nonprofit of the Seattle Mariners.”
Recently, the Mariners Care Foundation teamed up with two non-profit organizations. They joined both Seattle Friends and the Everett Boys and Girls Club to support special events for local youth.
Earlier in the year, players Logan Gilbert, Cole Young, Eduard Bazardo and bench coach Tony Arnerich, along with Mariner Moose, spent an afternoon at Seattle Children’s Hospital in support of childhood cancer awareness month.
The Mariners Care Foundation also helps players pursue their own charitable initiatives. Earlier in the year Pitcher Andres Munoz announced his own campaign. During the season, he shared his decision to support the Seattle Area Feline Rescue in a save-for-save program.
Their website writes, “Each time Muny saves a game, more funds will be added to the matching pool, and more feline lives will be saved! Your gifts will go twice as far to help cats most in need of a champion!”
These examples represent just a small portion of the charitable efforts made possible by the Mariners Care Foundation, the players, and the Seattle Mariners Ownership Group. Through their collective work, communities across Washington State continue to receive vital support in many forms.
