Sergio Perez looked somewhat displeased with teammate Max Verstappen after leading a Red Bull 1-2 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Just as the last race in Bahrain, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso came home third, but was later stripped of his podium after incorrectly serving a penalty, with Mercedes’ George Russell promoted a place.

Pole-sitter Perez had a relatively easy Sunday at the Jeddah Cornich street circuit while Verstappen started down in 15th after a drivetrain issue scuppered his qualifying on Saturday.

Alonso jumped Perez at the start but picked up a five-second penalty for lining up in his grid spot incorrectly, though this proved to have little effect on the race with the Mexican retaking the lead before the Spaniard had even served his penalty.

Verstappen meanwhile scythed his way up the order with his Red Bull RB19 once again far quicker than the rest of the field, with a brief safety car period, bought out after Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin broke down on track, only speeding up his progress.

Once the two-time champion had moved up to second there was a little action to speak of for the rest of the race, bar a few battles for positions lower down the grid.

Perez cruising at the front with a decent gap to Verstappen, looked set to not only win but get the bonus point for the fastest lap which would have seen him take the lead of championship.
