Shedeur Sanders First Move After Browns Blowout Turns Heads

Shedeur Sanders made an interesting move on social media following the Cleveland Browns’ 31-6 blowout win over the Miami Dolphins.

Sanders, who backed up Dillon Gabriel on Sunday and didn’t take the field, reposted a photo from outspoken sports commentator Skip Bayless wearing his No. 12 Browns jersey. Bayless has been one of Sanders’ loudest supporters, and the young quarterback showed his appreciation by sharing the post with his 2 million-plus Instagram followers.

Sanders routinely reposts his supporters on social media — whether it’s someone like Bayless or a group of kids doing his watch flex celebration. But amplifying Bayless is interesting.

InstagramSkip Bayless showed his support for Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders on social media.

During the game, Bayless delivered an interesting message on the Browns and Sanders.

“If Shedeur Sanders, with that Browns defense and the emergence of Judkins slashing and gashing, had started at QB from the start, as he should have, the Browns would be the Vanderbilt of the North,” Bayless said, referencing the 6-1 Commodores, who have defied expectations in the SEC.

Shedeur Sanders Expected to Get Shot With Browns Eventually

Sanders is not in line to step in as the starter any time soon. The Browns bumped veteran Joe Flacco to the bench in favor of Gabriel and will give the third-round rookie a longer leash. However, the expectation is that Sanders will eventually get his chance to start.

“Myles Garrett also revealed recently that he sees Sanders working with Kevin Stefanski in his office in the early morning hours, which means he’s putting in the extra work. It’s showing up on the practice field, and the Browns are eager to see what he can do this season when the time comes,” Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com said. “The Browns will give Dillon Gabriel a decent on-ramp, but there will probably come a time in the second half of the season where the Browns will want to see Sanders play. They’re confident he’ll be ready.”

The Browns moved to 2-5 with their win against the Dolphins. Unless the team manages to sneak in the playoff race, seeing what Sanders can do is a logical option for the Browns, who hold two first-round picks in next year’s draft.

Dillon Gabriel Has Had ‘Unique Challeneges’ With Browns

Gabriel is 1-2 as the starter but has been more of a game-manager than a difference maker, rarely looking downfield.

Through three games Gabriel has passed for 546 yards and three touchdowns. Most importantly, Gabriel has not turned the ball over, although he had a few questionable throws in the win against the Dolphins. He had a pass picked off in the first half but it was called back due to a pass interference penalty.

“Yeah, I think with all of our young players we’re learning about them every day they’re in the building. Obviously, these games are important for them and putting them in different situations,” Stefanski said. “Dillon’s only three games into his career, and it’s had some unique challenges. But to be able to play clean and take care of the football for this football team and obviously get his first win as a starting quarterback yesterday, I thought was, you know, good for him. Obviously, that’s something that you always remember.”

The Browns take on the New England Patriots on Sunday.
