Skins Game – Bradley Wins Big While Schauffele Loses It All

This Black Friday, the beloved Skins Game made its return to the screen with Amazon Prime. Featuring four of the most relevant faces in golf right now, viewers could tune in for some behind the scenes action. Xander Schauffele, Keegan Bradley, Shane Lowry, and Tommy Fleetwood faced off in the exciting high stakes game full of nostalgia with some modern fun twists.

The ‘reverse purse’ style of play allotted each player $1 million to gain or lose throughout the round. While one player emerged dominant, another hilariously ended the day empty handed, but got to join in on the celebration anyway.

Big Checks for All Amounts

Taking place at the Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Skins Game saw winners racking up enormous amounts. On the other hand, one player ended the competition with a goose egg, and a big check as a reminder.

Following the round, Schauffele was his usual positive self, stating, “This is actually the first check I’ve ever gotten. I’m gonna frame this in the living room.” He later added, “That’s motivation. Probably the last Skins Game I ever play, to be honest.” However, Schauffele may return in the future considering his hilarious comments and incredibly fun demeanor. He was a fan favorite, and could make a return in the future, if viewers have anything to say about it.

To end the event, Keegan Bradley took home 11 skins, totaling $2.1 million. Tommy Fleetwood came in second at $1.7 million, and Lowry took 3rd with a $200,000 win.

Bradley’s Revenge

Bradley’s win was much needed, ahead of the competition, he took his own preemptive jab, stating, “I won’t have a walkie-talkie in my hand on Friday. I’ll have a golf club, which is my chance to get back at these two maniacs down there.” He was, of course, referring to Fleetwood and Lowry after his deflating Ryder Cup loss as Team USA Captain earlier this year.

Taunts and jabs are a much loved aspect of the Skins Game. With mic’d up players getting after each other as the day progresses. To continue the trash talk, Lowry brought up the sore subject from earlier this year. After draining a birdie putt on hole two, he referenced the highly discussed Ryder Cup, stating, “I have just spent the last few months breaking Keegan Bradley’s heart.” Golf fans knew the sensitive spot was sure to arise, but Lowry brought it to the limelight as soon as possible, with a smile on his face.

Ahead of the Skins Game, Bradley reflected on his childhood, stating,

“I loved watching the Skins Game growing up. It was always for me, growing up in New England, it was the end of the season, so I was bummed about that golf was winding down and then we always had this thing to look forward to of watching legends of the game play … that was the first time we’d ever seen guys interact with each other while they were playing and hear what they were saying to their caddies and it was always just a really exciting thing to look forward to for me as a kid.”

Safe to say Bradley not only re-lived in a wonderful childhood memory, but also got the revenge he needed for Team USA.
