Steph Curry Makes Shocking Admission Amid Tensions Inside Warriors Locker Room

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry made a surprising admission after Draymond Green openly questioned the team’s commitment to winning, adding another layer to the mounting frustration surrounding the Warriors’ slide back to .500.

Golden State fell 126-102 to the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night, continuing a troubling trend that has raised internal concerns — and spotlighted friction involving young guard Brandin Podziemski.

Curry Acknowledges Falling Into the ‘Agenda’ Trap

Speaking after his return from a three-game absence due to the flu, Curry admitted he too slipped into the mindset Green had criticized.

“I kind of fell into [the agenda thing] a little bit myself,” Curry told ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “Trying to get myself going.”

Curry said the team’s biggest problem wasn’t scoring but failing to execute the fundamental habits that define winning basketball.

“Commitment to winning is just running the floor, rebounding, taking care of the basketball,” Curry said. “It’s not really about shots going in or not.”

The 37-year-old superstar struggled in his first game back, finishing with a season-low 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting in just 20 minutes as Golden State quickly fell behind.

Still, Curry downplayed the performance, attributing the rust to his recent illness.

“Anytime you have a cold-type vibe… sitting in bed for two days, it takes a little bit to get back,” he told reporters. “Getting your wind back was the biggest thing. I’m happy with where I am now, considering where I was a week ago.”

Green Sounds the Alarm: ‘It Doesn’t Feel Like Everybody’s Committed’

Green — the emotional engine of Golden State’s dynasty — delivered one of his most pointed criticisms of the season.

“It just doesn’t feel like everybody’s committed to winning right now,” Green said after the loss. “Everybody has a personal agenda in this league… but if it doesn’t work within the team, that agenda eventually gets you out of here.”

Those remarks, while not aimed at a specific player, were interpreted around the league as a subtle shot at the rising internal friction — particularly comments made by Podziemski before the season.

Inside the Podziemski Tension: ‘I Want to Be Better Than Steph’

According to Slater, Podziemski made waves inside the organization with a series of comments about his long-term ambitions — including a response that stunned some within the team.

Podziemski said he “wants to be better than” Steph Curry, Slater wrote, a remark that reportedly drew “eyerolls” from multiple staffers and veterans.

Now in his third season, Podziemski is averaging 12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists — solid numbers but still far from star-level production. Yet his confidence has outpaced his role.

In October, he doubled down in an interview with The Athletic in October.

“When they leave this thing, they’ve got to leave it with somebody,” Podziemski said. “I want them to be able to go to Joe [Lacob] and Mike [Dunleavy] and say, ‘Leave it with him.’”

Veterans, including Green, viewed the comments as ambitious but premature. Green publicly cautioned the 22-year-old to pump the brakes.

“Be careful… the moment you have a bad game, that’s when it turns,”  Green later warned. “He’ll be that someday, but it ain’t his time yet.”

Warriors Searching for Answers as Slide Continues

Golden State began the season 4–1 but has since dropped five of its last seven games to fall to 6–6. Poor defensive effort, inconsistent scoring, and rising frustration have all contributed to the team’s volatility.

Curry’s revelation, combined with Green’s pointed warnings, suggests that the Warriors’ issues extend beyond the box score.

For a franchise built on championship continuity, the challenge now is to rediscover unity — before the season slips further away.
