Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Conversation Surfaces Amid Chiefs Loss

Taylor Swift made sure to be at the Kansas City Chiefs verses Los Angeles Chargers game at a chilly Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, December 14, to support her soon-to-be husband, Travis Kelce, in what was a crucial game for the Chiefs. This was a must-win game for Kansas City, with the dwindling chance at the playoffs alive, and unfortunately, the Chiefs fell in a 16-13 final score.

Tensions were high on the field, and after the game, Kelce was so upset that he decline talking to the media. According to a report from Jesse Newell of The Athletic, Kelce told reporters, “It’s not the time. I’ll catch you guys during the week.” It’s also not the first time Kelce has refused to talk to the press after a game, because it’s just been that kind of heartbreaking season.

Swift attended the game in Kelce’s personal suite along with her mom, Andrew, her soon-to-be mother-in-law Donna Kelce and her future sister-in-law Kylie Kelce, plus Kylie’s daughters. But, now the Chiefs are officially out of the playoffs, according to NFL research, and from here on out, they’re just playing for respect. Amid the loss, a phone call between Swift and Kelce has emerged, and it’s getting attention.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Phone Call Gets Attention Amid Kansas City Chiefs Loss

On Friday, December 12, Swift launched the first two episodes of her Disney+ docuseries, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The End of an Era.” The program shows a special look at her romance with Kelce, including a pregame phone call.

In one scene from the debut episode, Swift is seen in the car and on the phone with Kelce as she goes to Wembley Stadium to perform a sold-out concert. On the phone, she’s heard saying “I love you.” Kelce wasn’t able to attend the show, because he was at practice, to which she says in a flirty way, “Why do you have to be in the NFL?”

“We basically do the same job,” Swift says to Kelce in a different part of the call. Kelce says, “You got teammates, I got teammates.” Swift then says, “You’ve got Coach Reid, I’ve got…my mom,” and they both laugh.

A Sweet End to the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Moment

At the end of the talk, Kelce tells Swift, “Thanks for making my life better.” Swift says, “I know, this was like — some people get a vitamin drip. I got this conversation.”

So, amid the Chiefs loss to the Chargers, this phone call shows that there are some things more important than winning games, such as love.

Swift was at the game during her birthday weekend. She turned 36 years old on Saturday, December 13, and got a birthday gift on her big day in the form of her 2025 studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which she dropped on October 3, going from No. 3 back up to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. According to Luminate data, “The Life of a Showgirl” skyrocketed 99,300 equivalent units for the week, which is up 12% from the week prior.

Now, Swift and Kelce will take the offseason to plan their wedding, and Kelce will have to decide whether he wants to come back to the Chiefs in 2026 for another run.
