Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Make Big Decision About Their Future: Report

Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce seem to have the perfect, storybook romance together, and now, they’re officially engaged and ready to build a life together. Being engaged means planning ahead and including your partner in all of the decisions, big and little, that might pop up.

On Sunday, October 19, Swift was where she loves to be most during Kansas City Chiefs games: watching from the sidelines. It was a big win for the Chiefs, and they easily took down the Las Vegas Raiders with the final score of 31-0. It’s hard to believe this is the same team that struggled early in the season, but this is what the Chiefs do: always come back from adversity stronger than before. That win also follows the Chiefs’ victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Before the game, news leaked out about some plans that Swift and Kelce are making for their future. They’re planning a wedding, of course, but they’re also looking at some hard details of their relationship.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Decision: Report

Both Swift and Kelce are loaded, so they have to talk about having a prenuptial agreement. Now, according to a report from Reality Tea, Kelce has agreed to sign a prenup with Swift.

“The newly engaged couple is ensuring to get a solid prenup before exchanging vows,” the report states. “This move, as per the source, is because the NFL player believes they both should ‘stay financially independent’ even in the future. Due to the prenup, their marriage might also get delayed.”

What’s nice, and perhaps a bit unexpected, is that Kelce reportedly totally “gets” that Swift needs to stay financially independent. She is a billionaire, after all

“Travis gets that completely – he admires how driven she is and believes it’s important they both stay financially independent,” a source close to the musician told the publication.

Swift and Kelce broke the news of their engagement on August 26, with Swift taking to Instagram and sharing, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

A Big Moment for Taylor Swift

Things just keep getting better for Swift. During the Chiefs-Raiders game, music industry publication Billboard reported some big news about her new album.

Taylor Swift released her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” and according to Billboard, the album is No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for a second week in a row.

Taylor Swift‘s “The Life of a Showgirl” spends a second week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Oct. 25), with 338,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Oct. 16, according to Luminate,” Billboard reported. They added that those numbers are “down 92% compared to the album’s modern-era-record debut with 4.002 million units a week ago,” but it’s still enough to be No. 1.

The second week of “Showgirl” is the fifth-largest week of 2025 for any album, according to Billboard, and the largest second week for any album since Swift’s last record, “The Tortured Poets Department,” back in May of 2024. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the United States, counting any genre, “based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate,” according to Billboard.

So, it’s understandable that both Swift and Kelce would want to protect their assets going into this marriage. They’re doing just that, and that should make the marriage even more solid.
