Taylor Swift Drops Major News Days Before Chiefs’ Primetime Showdown With the Texans

Taylor Swift is heading into what she calls the “most thrilling chapter” of her career — and she chose the week of the Kansas City Chiefs’ showdown with the Houston Texans to drop a major announcement. On Tuesday, Dec. 2, Disney+ released the final trailer for “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show,” a live concert film capturing the last performance of her record-breaking tour in Vancouver.

The timing raised eyebrows across Swift Nation and Chiefs Kingdom alike, coming just one day before Travis Kelce’s viral comments about their relationship — and just days ahead of Sunday night’s primetime game at Arrowhead.

Taylor Swift Unveils New Footage From ‘The Eras Tour: The Final Show

Swift, 35, appears in the trailer performing the “Tortured Poets Department” section of the show, dressed in a white gown and black gloves as a futuristic spaceship floats above the stage.

“We’ve had so long to prepare for the end of this tour and we get to play one last show for you here tonight,” Swift says in a voiceover.

The trailer includes shots of Swift singing “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” along with clips from her “Midnights” and “Reputation” sets. It also reveals a new acoustic set recorded exclusively for the final show. Fans immediately noticed a lyric change in her rendition of “Long Live,” where she sings, “It was the end of an era.”

I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date,” Swift tells the crowd.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show” premieres Dec. 12, documenting her Dec. 8, 2024 performance at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.

Travis Kelce Says He and Swift Have Never Argued

Swift’s trailer drop came just one day before Kelce made headlines on the latest episode of his podcast, “New Heights.”

While interviewing guest George Clooney, Kelce asked about Clooney’s claim that he and his wife, Amal Clooney, have never argued. Clooney fired back: “Travis, shall we ask you the same questions?”

Kelce laughed and admitted, “Well, it’s only been two and a half years, and you’re right. I haven’t gotten into an argument. Never once.”

The revelation went viral immediately — not surprising, considering Kelce and Swift’s romance has been one of the most-watched in the world.

Chiefs President Explains Why Taylor Swift Stays Off the Arrowhead Jumbotron

As the Chiefs prepare to face the Texans on Sunday night, Swift’s presence at Arrowhead remains a topic of conversation.

She has attended multiple games this season — more quietly than in past years — but fans have noticed she never appears on the stadium’s jumbotron.

Chiefs President Mark Donovan recently explained why during an interview on the “Up & Adams” podcast.

“My job early on in this was — and I told Travis this — we’re going to treat you and your relationship with the same respect that we treat any other player,” Donovan said. “We’re not going to monetize it.”

He continued:All those shots you see of Taylor in the stadium — he scores a touchdown, he makes a catch, TV goes to Taylor. Especially the first year. We never showed Taylor on our big boards in our stadium. It was respectful.”

Donovan also praised Swift personally: “Taylor’s been amazing to us. It’s been nothing but good. She is a phenomenon. She is just a special, kind person.”

The Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. CST, with national coverage on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
