Taylor Swift News Breaks During Chiefs Bye Week

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a bye week, which means that Taylor Swift wasn’t sitting at the sidelines watching Travis Kelce on the field last weekend. But, Swift’s life is jam-packed with action, and with the Chiefs having a week off, she’s been making headlines of her own.

Swift wasn’t at the Chiefs’ last game going into the bye week, which was against the Buffalo Bills on the road. The Chiefs lost that game with a 28-21 final score, and for Kansas City, it was a heartbreaker. After the game, Kelce talked about the loss on his podcast, “New Heights,” and admitted that “going up against Buffalo is not an easy thing.” He also said that the Bills’ stadium was “rocking” and “electric,” and even though the crowd was against him, Kelce said that he loved every minute of it and that he cherishes “every game that I get an opportunity to go up there.”

So, Kelce and the Chiefs have been off this past week, and the time off is a good thing for Kelce, because he has a wedding to plan with Swift. During the bye week, though, Swift got some big news that doesn’t have much to do with the Kansas City Chiefs or Kelce.

Taylor Swift Breaks Records During Kansas City Chiefs Bye Week

It’s a good time for Taylor Swift and her music. The singer has set another Billboard chart landmark as of the past week, in that she has officially spent the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songwriters chart, according to Billboard research, with “The Fate of Ophelia.”

Swift has also surpassed the late Johnny Marks for a 27th total week at No. 1 on the November 8-dated chart, marking the most weeks spent on top since the survey began in June 2019.

However, the Grammy Award nominations were announced this week, and Swift wasn’t in the tally. Don’t worry, though, because her not being on the roster of nominees wasn’t at all a snub.

Why Taylor Swift Was Left Off the Grammy Award Nominations

Swift simply wasn’t eligible because of when she released her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” According to the Grammy rules, musical projects must be released within the window of eligibility in order to qualify for a nomination for any given year’s awards. This year’s period of entry ran from August 31, 2024, through August 30, 2025.

Taylor released “The Life of a Showgirl” on October 3, 2025, so it was more than a month outside of the window to qualify. She also didn’t release any singles during that window of eligibility, so she didn’t have any music that would have been able to be nominated.

So, even though “The Life of a Showgirl” won’t be up for any Grammy Awards this year, Taylor will have her moment when the 2027 Grammy Awards take place. Swift already has 14 Grammys to her name, so even if she never won the award again, she would have more than most artists. Kendrick Lamar, who Swift once collaborated with doing the song “Bad Blood,” had the most nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards, including for Album of the Year for “GNX.”
