Taylor Swift News Emerges Before Chiefs-Chargers Game

Taylor Swift has become the Kansas City Chiefs‘ biggest supporter since she started dating tight end Travis Kelce in July 2023. Now, of course, Swift and Kelce are engaged, which the couple announced on August 26, and the two are planning a wedding together.

But, right now, Kelce’s focus is squarely on the Chiefs and trying to beat the odds to get Kansas City into the postseason, even though the research says they only have a 12% of making it.

While Swift has been supporting Kelce when he’s on the field with the Chiefs, she’s also been promoting her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which arrived on October 3. While the biggest whirlwind for the album’s push ended in the fall, Swift is still doing some media rounds, and she appeared on “The Stephen Colbert Show” on Wednesday, December 10, to talk about the success of the album.

Swift also received some big news on Thursday, December 11, days before the Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, December 14. So, Swift is making her own news, as the Chiefs are all the talk of the NFL with their decision-making game on the way.

Taylor Swift Receives Big News Ahead of Kansas City Chiefs Game

On Thursday, December 11, Swift got word that she’s on top of the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) tally of top-certified albums of the year for 2025, according to Billboard. The RIAA announced its official roster of 2025 certifications on Thursday, and Swift is getting the honor for the second consecutive year. Swift also was on top of the year-end tally with the highest certification level and the year’s No. 1 album for the 5x platinum “The Life of a Showgirl.”

Earlier this year, Swift was honored for becoming the first female artist in history to surpass 100 million RIAA-certified album units for her full catalog. Also, Swift’s 11th studio album, “Tortured Poets Department,” was on top of the 2024 RIAA album roster.

Swift poured her heart into the new album. Speaking about the feel of her album on Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast in August, she said, “I wanted melodies that were so infectious that you were almost angry at it and lyrics that are just as vivid, but crisp and focused and completely intentional.”

She work on the album on the road, which was a tiring but “exciting” experience. Of the recording process, she said, “I would be playing three shows in a row, I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and I was pretty exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally simulated and so excited to be creating.”

Taylor Swift’s Status for the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers Game

So, will Swift be at the Chargers game on Sunday? She’s been at nearly all of Kelce’s home games, so she’ll likely be there, but she’s been staying very low profile at games this season. “Taylor Swift has been keeping a lower profile during Travis Kelce’s 2025-2026 NFL season in part to avoid ‘excessive attention’ on herself,” Elle magazine reported in an October 29 piece.

So, even if she is at the game, there’s a good chance she’ll be out of the sight of the cameras, at least as she enters and exits.
