Times are tough for the Kansas City Chiefs. After a devastating 22-19 defeat to the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos on Sunday, the defending AFC champs and winners of three of the last six Super Bowls find themselves at a mediocre 5-5, in ninth place overall in the AFC.
Only the top seven teams qualify for the playoffs. And for the Chiefs, getting back into the playoff picture is not simply a matter of winning games. The four teams directly above them in the standings all own tiebreakers over Kansas City.
Future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce, after a slow start to his season, turned in his best outing so far in 2025, catching a season-high nine passes out of 13 targeted for him, also a season high.
His 91 yards was Kelce’s second highest total, to the 99 he collected in Week 8 against the Washington Commanders, and he also scored one of only two Kansas City touchdowns on the otherwise dismal day at Mile High Stadium.
Major Change to Wedding Plans Reported
In the end, however, it was not enough. It became clear, if it wasn’t already, that the Chiefs need to make some changes. But off the field, change also appears to be coming for Kelce, specifically in his upcoming wedding to global pop megastar Taylor Swift, according to a new report published last week.
Kelce, 36, and Swift â who will turn 36 on December 13 â first became an item in 2023. Their highly public relationship took its biggest leap yet in August when the couple announced their engagement in an Instagram post.
That much has not changed. Kelce and Swift by all accounts are still planning to get married.
It’s how they will get married that reportedly took a major change in direction, giving Kelce one more potential distraction amidst the Chiefs’ slide toward NFL irrelevance.
From ‘Not a Spectacle’ to Blowout Bash
According to various reports, mostly emanating from “insiders” and “sources” reputedly close to the couple’s inner circle, Swift and Kelce originally planned a change of pace from the whirlwind, intensely public nature of their romance, instead holding a wedding that “will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” one such insider said. “They both have a close circle of friends, and theyâll respect their privacy.”
That plan is now out the window, according to new revelations by reporter Ishika Mishra of Reality Tea.
Ditching plans for an intimate celebration that most likely would have been held at Swift’s $17 million oceanside estate in Rhode Island, the couple will now go all out with “a massive celebration worthy of a global icon,” according to Mishra’s report.
At Least 300 Guests Including Big Celebs
âTaylor went back and forth, but sheâs decided thereâs no sense in doing a wedding on the smaller side,â Mishra quoted her source as saying. âThereâs no doubt in her mind that this is the only time sheâll tie the knot, so having a bigger bash is a no-brainer.â
Of course, most everyone who gets married for the first time has no doubt that it will be the only time they’ll tie the knot. Nonetheless that reality is not stopping Swift from diving headlong into a splashy nuptial soiree with âat least 300 guestsâ who will include many of the âbiggest names in entertainment,” according to the Reality Tea informant.
The source named such luminaries as Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne as sure to receive wedding innovations, but outside of Brittany Mahomes â wife of Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes â no one connected to Kelce was named as a potential wedding guest in Mishka’s report.
