Taylor Swift may have had a great seat to one of Travis Kelce’s final games in the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has hinted at retirement at the conclusion of this season, and Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers means the Chiefs will not be able to make the playoffs this year. While Kelce has yet to officially announce his decision, some believe Swift’s behavior at Sunday’s game is a big hint that his career is coming to an end.
Taylor Swift Taking in the Moment
Swift was spotted in the Kelce family suite for Sunday’s game, sitting with soon-to-be sister in law Kylie Kelce and the rest of Travis’s family. Some noted that Swift appeared ready to document the moment, hinting it could be one of her last games watching Kelce playing for the Chiefs.
“Taylor having a video camera and his entire family attending,” one person shared in a post on X. “oh this was definitely his last game”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter seemed to confirm the speculation, sharing in a post on Monday that Kelce could be headed for retirement. Schefter noted that the season-ending torn ACL for Mahomes could push Kelce even more toward retirement.
“We’ll see what he ultimately decides at the end of the year,” Schefter said. “I think his future is very much up in the air. I think it’s distinctly possible that one of the greatest NFL connections of all time, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, may have played their last down together, which is hard to imagine, but that’s a real possibility here.”
Travis Kelce’s Uncertain Future
As NFL.com’s Kevin Patra noted, Kelce is nearing the end of his contract with the Chiefs and would become a free agent in 2026. He returned in part to avenge the team’s embarrassing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, but this season finished in even more disappointing fashion as the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention with three games left to go.
Kelce is still having a productive season, making 67 receptions for 797 yards with five touchdowns. But if he does sign a new contract with the Chiefs, he would return with a big question mark at quarterback and team in need of serious salary cap decisions.
Kelce has some other big plans ahead, with rumors that he and Swift are tying the knot in the late spring. The New York Post’s Page Six reported that the couple has already picked a date and made a big trade to secure the venue they wanted.
“Taylor Swift cut a hefty check to snag a bride’s wedding date at a posh Rhode Island venue, Page Six is told,” the report noted. “Multiple sources tell us that the billionaire pop superstar wanted to marry her fiancé, Travis Kelce, at Ocean House in Watch Hill on Saturday, June 13, 2026.”
If Kelce does return to the NFL, he would tie the knot and have time for a honeymoon with weeks to spare before training camp begins in July.
