Tommy Fleetwood’s devastating loss at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday, August 10th is another near miss for the 34-year old professional. With 12 first-time winners on the 2025 PGA Tour, it seems to be the year for breakthrough players, and Fleetwood is long over due for a PGA Tour win. In light of this close call, let’s look back at the 12 first-time winners of the 2025 season.
Thomas Detry
Starting February 6th at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open, Thomas Detry took home his first win with a seven-shot lead. Detry boasts an impressive record with two second place finishes on the PGA Tour, most recently at the 2024 Texas Children’s Hospital. His win at TPC Scottsdale was a much deserved victory.
Brian Campbell
The second golfer to take home their first PGA Tour win this year was Brian Campbell. The American caught a lucky break at the 2025 Mexico Open. When a playoff tee shot bounced out of the trees and back into play, Campbell was able to make a birdie and advance to the second playoff hole where he eventually took the win. Campbell’s determination and skill resulted in his first victory, and sent him to the Masters, The PLAYERS Championship, the PGA Championship, and the five remaining signature events on the PGA Tour Schedule.
Joe Highsmith
After nearly missing the cut at the 2025 Cognizant Classic, Joe Highsmith came back for the victory in Florida. He is the first player in nine years to come back from the cut line and take home the win.
Karl Vilips
In a surprising turn of events, Australian Rookie Karl Vilips took first place at the 2025 Puerto Rico Open. The event was only his fourth career start, his third start as a member of the PGA Tour.
Min Woo Lee
Min Woo Lee took home his breakthrough win at the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open. With 56 career Tour Appearances, the victory was long awaited for the 27 year old Australian.
Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak
At the 2025 Zurich Classic, Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak took home their maiden win together. This team event in New Orleans was well deserved for the pair. Notably, Griffin left professional golf and worked as a loan officer before returning to the sport in 2021.
Ryan Fox
Ryan Fox, achieved his first PGA Tour win at the 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic. Thanks to a chip in from more than 50 feet, the New Zealand player was able to take home the PGA Tour title.
Aldrich Potgieter
After five intense playoff holes, Aldrich Potgieter clenched the win at the 2025 Rocket Classic. He sunk an impressive 17’10” birdie putt to secure his first win in 20 career PGA Tour starts.
William Mouw
William Mouw took home his maiden PGA Tour victory at the 2025 ISCO Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. This was also his 20th career start and he shot the lowest score of his career at the event.
Ryan Gerard
Ryan Gerard achieved his first PGA Tour victory after six straight weeks of golf. Starting at the U.S. Open, he played consecutive weekends leading up to his win at the 2025 Barracuda Championship.
Cameron Young
At the 2025 Wyndham Championship, Cameron Young became the 1,000 unique winner in Tour history. Young’s victory was long awaited. With 7 second-place throughout his career, he was due for a win.
More Opportunities Ahead
With two weekends left in the FedExCup Playoffs, and more golf ahead, fans can continue rooting for Tommy Fleetwood’s maiden PGA Tour win, hopefully in the 2025 season. As the saying goes, there’s a lot more golf to be played.
