Trade Prediction Brings Cowboys 8-Time Pro Bowler From NFC South

One of the reasons former NFL cornerback and current ESPN analyst Domonique Foxworth has become such a popular — and trusted — member of the media is he has an incredibly relatable way of explaining football concepts.

Instead of boring us with talk about Cover Zero, off ball linebackers and Twins Split Y Motion passing concepts, Foxworth can diagnose what’s wrong with a defense in plain terms that almost anyone can understand who just has basic knowledge of the game.

Like, for example, what’s wrong with the Dallas Cowboys, who are ranked 32nd in the NFL — aka dead last — in team defense through 7 games but have somehow managed to eke out a 3-3-1 record headed into a Week 8 road game against the Denver Broncos.

“If you’re looking at what’s wrong with a defense that’s bad, top to bottom, and how to fix it, it starts up front,” Foxworth said on “The Mina Kimes Show With Lenny” on October 21. “So if you improve the defensive front the idea is the levels behind that are going to get better, because their jobs get a little easier. So add a real dude up there and you might have something to build on,”

For the Cowboys, getting that “real dude” could mean a trade for veteran New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan — the type of player who might be willing to come to a contender after playing his first 14 seasons all with the same franchise.

For the Cowboys, their status as a contender might not last long if they don’t improve their defense, so the clock is already ticking.

No Point in Cowboys Adding Elite Edge Rusher

While the splashy, flashy move would be to go after an elite player like Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby or Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, neither of those players really make sense for the Cowboys.

Getting Crosby or Hendrickson will cost the Cowboys at least one of the first round picks they obtained in the trade of edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in August. Which kind of negates the reason they traded for him in the first place.

Getting a player like Jordan in exchange for something along the lines of — on the high end —  a 2026 third round pick or 2026 fourth round pick is more reasonable. And it also leaves room for multiple moves, which could mean also adding a player like Tennessee Titans inside linebacker Cody Barton.

Jordan One of NFL’s Dominant Defensive Linemen

It’s incredible to think Jordan, 6-foot-4 and 287 pounds, is still producing like he is at 36 years old — and it sucks he’s had to do it on such awful teams the last few years.

Jordan was a first round pick (No. 24 overall) by the Saints out of Cal in the 2011 NFL draft and made the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade Team. He’s a 3-time NFL All-Pro and 8-time Pro Bowler who is playing on a 1-year, $6.05 million contract in 2025 but has a staggering $144 million in career earnings.

Through 7 games in 2025, Jordan has 19 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 4 TFL, 5 QB hits and 1 fumble recovery — numbers that would be welcome not just in Dallas but just about anywhere in the NFL.
