TRADE: San Francisco Giants Swing Deal for Tigers 1.38 ERA RP

The San Francisco Giants have had a rough start to the 2026 season, as they lost each of their first three games of the campaign to the New York Yankees. Now, in response to their slow start, they are making a trade.

According to FanSided’s Robert Murray, the Giants are acquiring relief pitcher Dylan Smith from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations.

Smith was designated for assignment by the Tigers leading up to Opening Day. Now, with this trade, Smith is heading to the Giants‘ roster and will be looking to make a positive impact.

Smith appeared in his first seven major league games this past season with the Tigers and did well, as he had a 1-0 record, a 1.38 ERA, and four strikeouts.

Smith spent the majority of the 2025 season in the minors, though. In 30 appearances split between Single-A, Single-A+, Double-A, and Triple-A last season, the 6-foot-2 righty had a 4-1 record, a 2.27 ERA, and 57 strikeouts.
