Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are making history on and off the field ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ highly anticipated Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
For Kelce, it marks a milestone in his 13-year NFL career. The star tight end has never played a Thanksgiving Day game. After Kansas City pulled off a comeback win over the Indianapolis Colts on November 24, Kelce said he is ready for the holiday spotlight.
“I’m pumped,” Kelce told KSHB 41. “It’s my first time ever playing on Thanksgiving.”
Kelce also pointed out that the matchup hits different for Patrick Mahomes, who will play his first NFL game back in his home state of Texas.
“We’ve got to win for him,” Kelce said. “You can’t go back home with any Ls, man. There’s nothing that goes better than football and Thanksgiving, baby.”
Meanwhile, Swift continues to make headlines during one of the biggest years of her career. Days before the game, she celebrated the Chiefs’ victory with Mahomes and Scott Swift, posing for a photo shared on X with the caption, “Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce and Scott Swift at 1587 Prime after the Chiefs game Sunday.”
Travis Kelce Breaks Chiefs Franchise Touchdown Record
Kelce continues to push his name deeper into NFL history. In the previous game against the Broncos, he grabbed his 84th career touchdown reception — the most in Chiefs franchise history.
The record-breaking catch came during the fourth quarter when Mahomes hit Kelce for a 21-yard touchdown on third-and-6.
“He deserves it, the work he puts in every day,” Mahomes told reporters after the game. “He’s a leader, man. It just speaks to the person that he is that he’s able to go out there and break that record.”
Mahomes added that Kelce always delivers when the moment matters.
“That was a great play in a big moment in the game. That’s when he usually makes his big plays,” Mahomes said.
Taylor Swift’s New Music and Eras Tour Records Continue to Dominate
Swift also enters the holiday weekend with major wins of her own. She released three new holiday vinyl variants of “The Life of a Showgirl” through her official webstore, adding another drop to her record-breaking year.
ActionNetwork.com also revealed new data showing the staggering scope of Swift’s Eras Tour:
• The tour became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time
• It is the first tour in history to surpass $1 billion in revenue
• The concert film became the highest-grossing concert movie ever
• Some venues broke attendance records multiple nights in a row
Swift’s impact extends far past the stadiums. ActionNetwork.com reports videos related to the tour have surpassed 35 billion views on TikTok, with 2.4 million hashtags used on Instagram. The estimated global economic effect of the tour is between $8.5 and $9 billion.
And with Swift preparing for the release of her docuseries “The End of an Era” and the one-year anniversary of her final Eras Tour performance on December 8, her momentum continues.
