Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are one game away from wrapping up their 2025-26 season, and although it’s not ending the way anyone in the Chiefs’ camp wanted, there’s still reason to be proud. That final game is against the 2-14 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, January 4, on the road.
Now, Kelce has a retirement decision to make. Will he return for one more run at getting another championship? It’s a big decision, and it will impact both Kelce and his future wife Taylor Swift. The two are planning a wedding together, but they were also hoping to plan for the big game together this season, and that’s not happening.
Aside from football, Kelce has other projects, including his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason. The two host their final episode of the year on Wednesday, December 31, and on Tuesday, December 30, they made an announcement about it.

The final guest of the year on the “New Heights” podcast, the brothers have announced, is basketball superstar Caitlin Clark.
“Joining us today for a special edition of New News is the six-foot guard from Iowa,” Jason Kelce said in a teaser posted on Tuesday, December 30. “She’s the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history, the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.”
He added on the show, “She’s a two-time WNBA All-Star, 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, the 2024 Time Magazine Athlete of the Year, and she is the first and now last guest of ‘New Heights’ in the 2025 season… please welcome back to the show, Caitlin Clark.”
“I’m back,” she says in the clip. “I’m honored you guys brought me back on. I must not have been too bad the first time, I guess.”
“We’re ending 2025 the same way we started … with an absolute banger,” they added on Instagram.
So, Clark is back on the show to ring in a new year. Maybe she’ll bring some good luck to the Kansas City Chiefs for next season, too.
Travis Kelce Will Play in Last Kansas City Chiefs Game
On Monday, December 29, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed if Kelce will be playing in that last game of the regular season. The Chiefs, according to NFL research, fell out of playoff contention with their loss on December 14 to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Reid said on Monday that Kelce, yes, will play in the Raiders game. It may mark his final time getting in the No. 87 for the Chiefs. When asked by a reporter if Kelce would play against the Las Vegas Raiders, Reid said, “Yes.” No questions. No wondering.
As for whether Reid will return as head coach for the 2026-27 season, the coach was asked about that, too. “I think I’m coming back, right?” he said. “If they’ll have me back, I’ll come back. You never know in this business, but I plan on it.”
But, it’s worth noting that Reid also said that Mahomes won’t be in Las Vegas. That’s because he’s continuing to rehab after having extensive surgery to repair his torn ACL and LCD.
