Trent Williams Predicts This 49ers Rookie Will Become an All-Pro

The San Francisco 49ers have spent much of the offseason retooling their roster. The front office opted to move on from several key pillars of their team, while working hard in the draft to bring some talented young players to town. The cream of the crop is their first-round pick, Mykel Williams, and one of the veterans on the team, All-Pro offensive lineman Trent Williams, has high hopes for the incoming rookie.

If there’s anyone who knows what it takes to play at a consistently high level in the NFL, it’s Trent, as he’s earned 11 Pro Bowl and three All-Pro First Team selections. It’s certainly not easy to be as great as he has been throughout his career, but the star offensive lineman believes that Mykel could join him on an All-Pro team in the near future.

Trent Williams Hits Mykel Williams with All-Pro Prediction

Armed with the No. 11 overall pick, the 49ers selected Mykel Williams, who spent the past three years wreaking havoc for the Georgia Bulldogs. While a high ankle sprain limited his productivity in 2024, Mykel was still one of the best players at his position in the nation, as he racked up 21 tackles, five sacks, and two passes batted for Georgia last season.

Mykel is a versatile player who can make an impact both against the run and the pass on the defensive line. After losing several key players at this spot over the offseason, the 49ers are relying heavily on him to step up and immediately make an impact in the NFL, or else their quest to make some noise in the NFC West could fall short.

One guy who has faith in Mykel is Trent Williams, as the two have begun to get familiar with each other’s games in the early stages of training camp. Trent knows how difficult it can be to deal with All-Pro expectations on a yearly basis, but he believes Mykel is more than capable of living up to the hype, even going as far to predict he would one day find himself on an All-Pro team.

“I think (Mykel Williams) has a chance to be a really good player in the NFL,” Trent said recently when speaking with reporters. “I think he has the chance to be dominant. He has the best coach in the league pushing him and he gets to learn from some of the best guys to learn from, obviously Nick (Bosa). I’m happy to see how he turns out. I think he has all the tools to be an All-Pro.”

Trent Williams, 49ers Hoping for Immediate Impact from Mykel Williams

If Mykel and the rest of San Francisco’s rookie class can make the jump to the pros and contribute to the team right away, they have a shot to put together a nice bounce-back campaign after laboring through the 2024 season. It’s not going to be easy, though, as the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Arizona Cardinals all seem poised to give the Niners a run for their money in 2025.

It typically takes time for rookies to find their way in the NFL, but Mykel could be an immediate contributor, and that’s precisely what the 49ers are hoping to see from him. There may be some bumps in the road, but if everything comes together for him as expected, Trent seems to believe he will be on an All-Pro squad at some point in his career.
