Trevon Diggs Reacts to Cowboys’ Stunning Micah Parsons Trade

The Dallas Cowboys have stunned the world once again. After an offseason full of contract drama with superstar linebacker Micah Parsons, the team decided to fulfill his trade request, sending him to the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster deal. In exchange for Parsons, the Cowboys received two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Reactions were pouring in from everywhere, and that included from Dallas’ star cornerback Trevon Diggs.

While Parsons requested a trade from the Cowboys, nobody ever truly expected that he would get traded this offseason. However, the Packers swooped in and made a massive play for him right before the start of the new campaign, leaving Dallas’ fanbase devastated. After news of the deal broke, Diggs shared a strong reaction on social media.

Trevon Diggs Bids Farewell to Micah Parsons

All offseason long, Parsons has been vocal about his desire to earn a contract extension from the Cowboys. Considering how he was set to enter the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, that wasn’t necessarily surprising. Plus, in his first four professional seasons, Parsons had been one of the most productive defenders in the entire league.

Since getting selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons has racked up 52.5 sacks, earning him four Pro Bowl selections, two All-Pro First Team honors, and the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. While guys like T.J. Watt, Myles Garrett, and Trey Hendrickson all got massive new contract extensions this offseason, things were different with Parsons since he is younger than all of those players.

Jerry Jones’ strange negotiation tactics once again came back to bite the Cowboys in the butt, though, leading to Parsons requesting a trade. With no progress being made towards a new deal, Dallas decided to cut bait and send him to Green Bay. The trade has shocked the collective NFL world, with Diggs sending Parsons a strong message in the wake of the news.

“Best In The World! Congratulations to my brother!” Diggs said after tagging Parsons in a post on X.

Cowboys Completely Botch Micah Parsons Contract Negotiations

After landing with the Packers, Parsons was handed a four-year, $188 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league. Sure, this deal seems quite expensive, but if Parsons simply continues producing like he has to start his career, he will be well worth it. Plus, with contract values continuing to rise, it won’t be long before this deal ends up looking far less expensive than it currently is.

For the Cowboys, losing Parsons is a tough pill to swallow, and their players seem to know that. You can’t replace his production with one player, and while Clark is a Pro Bowl-caliber player, he’s not Parsons, because at the end of the day, nobody is. The golden rule of sports is to never trade away a player of Parsons’ caliber, but Jones abides by his own rules, and this time, it lost him the most valuable defensive player in the league.
