Two Other LeBron James Streaks Likely to End for Lakers Star

PLos Angeles Lakers star LeBron James saw his 18-year, 1,297-game streak of double-digit scoring games end in Thursday’s win over the Toronto Raptors.

Two other historic LeBron James streaks will likely end during the 2025-26 season: his 21 consecutive selections to the All-NBA and All-Star Teams.

James, who has already missed 15 of the Lakers’ 21 games, is just three more missed games away from being disqualified for All-NBA honors. Considering that he turns 41 later this month, it’s almost a lock that he will miss a minimum of three games the rest of the way, bringing an end to his 21-year streak of making All-NBA Teams.

LeBron James Streaks in Danger

The Lakers star’s All-Star streak is also at risk.

Although there is no 65-game eligibility rule to make the All-Star Game, an exhibition contest, players, coaches and fans may decide not to vote for James for several reasons.

For one, James’ current counting stats of 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists on mediocre shooting splits of 41/25/55 don’t scream All-Star.

Furthermore, even if fans overwhelmingly vote for James for sentimental reasons, he may not receive enough votes from other quarters. Per the rules, starters for the All-Star Game are chosen by a combination of fans (50%), active players (25%) and media personnel (25%). As such, James may not receive the remaining 50% of the votes from players and the media, who may choose to reward a more deserving All-Star.

As for the All-Star reserves, they are voted on by the 30 NBA head coaches, who are unlikely to reward LeBron James unless something changes before February.

End of an Era

Even if James were to miraculously make the All-Star team — which will introduce a new Team World versus Team USA concept this season — his All-NBA streak is toast.

James made both his first All-NBA and All-Star team in his sophmore year with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2004-05. Since then, he has started all 21 All-Star teams, while making 13 All-NBA First Teams, four Second Teams and three Third Teams. Last season, he became the oldest player to be named to Second Team All-NBA, a remarkable feat in his year-40 season.

Entering this season, there was no real indication that James’ streaks would end, after he averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists in his 22nd campaign. However, he has clearly fallen off a cliff after missing the first 14 games with sciatica.

After his 18-year scoring streak ended on Thursday, James expressed no regrets.

“None. We won,” he said when asked about his feelings over his 1,297-game streak coming to an end.

James’ scoring streak of 1,297 consecutive double-digit scoring games lasted from Jan. 6, 2007, through Dec. 4, 2025. When James last scored in single digits on Jan. 5, 2007, Twitter/X was less than a year old, Bronny James was two, Cooper Flagg was 15 days old and George W. Bush was the U.S. President [H/T StatMuse].
