Tyreek Hill’s Latest Update Could Get Chiefs Fans Emotional

Have we seen the last of Tyreek Hill after his latest devastating injury?

Speaking publicly for the first time since his season-ending knee injury, the former Kansas City Chiefs star and current Miami Dolphins wideout said he’s “undecided” on retirement.

In an October 23 appearance on former Dolphins offensive lineman Terron Armstead’s podcast “The Set,” Hill spoke candidly about whether he still wants to play after tearing his ACL earlier this season.

“At the end of the day, I feel like that decision is based upon how I feel and where my mindset is at the moment,” Hill told Armstead.

“I’m happy with the career that I’ve had. I love playing football. I love it, but it takes a lot. It takes a lot on you mentally, it takes a lot on you physically.”

More on Whether Former Kansas City Chiefs Star Tyreek Hill Will Retire After 2025 ACL Tear

Hill dislocated his left knee against the New York Jets on September 29, with imaging later revealing multiple ligament tears—including his ACL—that required surgery. Miami ruled him out for the rest of 2025 immediately.

It’s not an easy path ahead for Hill, as there’s no guarantee that at 31, his burst will look the same after he recovers.

“I’m at the point now where I need to have a conversation with mom, family, everybody,” Hill added. “Wherever my mind is at the time, the decision will be made, but I know right now, I haven’t had time to live in the moment.”

A Look Back at Hill’s NFL Career

In Kansas City from 2016–21, Hill hauled in 479 passes for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdowns. There, he established himself as one of the league’s best wideouts, a super-speedy stress test that gave Patrick Mahomes a vertical threat few could cover.

From 2022 through 2025 with the Dolphins, Hill put up monster numbers. He caught 119 passes for 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022 and followed that up with an even stronger campaign, hauling in another 119 receptions for 1,799 yards and 13 scores in 2023 — the best statistical season of his career.

In 2024, he battled through a nagging wrist injury, but still managed 81 catches for 959 yards and six TDs. Before suffering his recent knee issue in 2025, Hill had already recorded 21 receptions for 265 yards and a touchdown in just four games. That’s 340 catches, 4,733 yards, and 27 scores in three-plus years in Miami—ridiculous output.

Will Hill End His Career With Kansas City?

Kansas City has won without him, but Hill’s time with the Chiefs was extremely memorable.

Chiefs fans will likely get a little sentimental when thinking about Hill’s time in Kansas City. Now, they’ll all be watching and waiting for something definitive as Hill ponders what will very likely be the most difficult decision of his career.

Hill has been clear he’s weighing health, family and the grind of a rehab that doesn’t guarantee he’ll ever be the same player. If he does decide to hang up his cleats, Kansas City feels like the place he’ll officially retire. He’s not at that place yet, though.

“I just want to be in this moment with my family,” Hill added. “I don’t want to make any rash decisions.”
