Veteran Pro Bowler Drops Strong Take About Broncos QB Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos will go as far as Bo Nix takes them, which, according to one veteran Pro Bowler, can be quite a distance.

Nix set various records and led the Broncos to their first 10-win season and playoff berth since 2015. This season, they are off to their best start since that 2015 campaign, which culminated in a Super Bowl victory.

Nix must prove that opinion correct if the Broncos are to match their 2015 team.

Courltand Sutton: Bo Nix Has ‘It’ Factor

Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton praised Nix for his performance in Week 9 against the Houston Texans. Not that Nix had gaudy stats, finishing with 173 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception on 48.6% completion, the second-lowest mark of his career.

Nix did have another 36 yards on five carries, and Sutton was on the receiving end of one of those TD passes.

However, the 2019 Pro Bowler touted Nix’s “it” factor following the game for another reason.

“Shoots, Bo just being Bo,” Sutton said postgame of Nix’s 9-yard scramble to set up the game-winning field goal. “Week in week out, he shows up. And I rave about him all the time from OTAs, training camp, whatever. Whenever I get a chance to talk to you guys, I’m always raving about him as a competitor, him as a person, him as a teammate, a brother. The guy has that ‘it’ to him. That thing, where we hear all the time, the ‘it,’ and everybody’s ‘it’ is something a little different.

“His, ‘it’ is something special. And he finds a way, and he’s a gamer. The dude shows up. And we know that when we have him back there, that we have a chance of winning the game. And I think that’s the most fun thing and confident thing to be able to have, is to know that the guy back there is going to give us a chance to win the game, and that’s what he does week in and week out.”

Sutton’s 30-yard TD grab was his only reception in six targets against the Texans. He has a 38-566-4 line this season, and recorded his first 1,000-yard campaign since 2019 – and the second of his career –  with Nix at the helm in 2024.

Bo Nix, Broncos ‘Expect’ to Have Chance at Victory

Nix entered the league as the most experienced quarterback in NCAA history, and he spoke candidly after the game about learning patience throughout his football career, with 61 starts between stints at Auburn and Oregon.

He also noted that this group is confident in their ability to overcome potentially adverse situations during games, even late in the contest.

Nix said they “expect” to at least “give ourselves a chance to win every game.”

“The expectations are that we’re going to compete and find a way. Whatever, however it looks. We’ve had good-looking games, we’ve had bad-looking games. But it’s – I’ve never, obviously, been on many teams – but this is a good win streak. And we’ve won in many different forms and fashions. So, I do think the expectations are different. I think we understand what it feels like to have confidence that we can go in there and win against a good team, in a tough environment, on the road,” Nix told reporters on November 2.

“It’s hard to win on the road in this league, and it’s hard to do it continuously. But we’re just finding ways to do it, and we found another way today. And so, it’s just good for the character and the continued development of the team.”

Up next, Nix, Sutton, and the Broncos visit their AFC West rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders, on “Thursday Night Football.”

At 7-2 and tied for the NFL’s best record, Nix and the Broncos are in a strong position.
