Victor Wembanyama Posts Historic Stat Line In Spurs’ Win

Victor Wembanyama showed why he’s known as “The Alien” in the San Antonio Spurs’ 121-117 win over the Chicago Bulls on November 10, dropping a stat line never seen before in NBA history.

Wemby was a force on both sides of the ball, posting 38 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks while knocking down six threes to lead his team to a third consecutive win.

According to the Spurs, no NBA player had ever had a game with 35+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists, 5+ three-pointers and 5+ blocks.

After his 2024-25 campaign was cut short by deep vein thrombosis the 7-foot-4 center is completely dominating in his third NBA season. He is averaging 25.7 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 50.6% from the field.

Now combined with young guards Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper and a healthy De’Aaron Fox, Wembanyama has the Spurs at 8-2 and looking like a title contender, and the best is apparently yet to come for San Antonio.

Wemby’s Historic Night

Wembanyama put together what may have been his best overall performance of the season and delivered in the clutch, scoring 18 of his 38 points in the fourth quarter to will San Antonio to a victory.

Chicago led 104-91 early in the fourth quarter before Wemby scored 10 straight points, hitting a fadeaway jumper and a 3-pointer to get the Spurs within three with 7:05 remaining. In the final minute, he pulled off an incredible sequence, drilling a three-pointer in front of Nikola Vucevic to tie the game at 114, getting a block on defense and then splashing a go-ahead three at the other end.

“The first [three-pointer], definitely. I knew that’s where I was going to go [on the court],” Wembanyama said after the game. “The second one, I quickly decided to [shoot] because I felt like I could get separation and felt like it would just make the situation more complicated if I went through a crowd. I guess I chose right.”

Wembanyama’s stat line from Monday made history and is one of a few ridiculous games for the big man so far this year. He had a 40 point, 15 rebound outing against the Dallas Mavericks on opening night and scored 31 points with 14 rebounds and six blocks against the Brooklyn Nets on October 26.

Best Is Yet To Come For San Antonio Spurs

Despite the exciting finish to the game — in which the Spurs picked up their third straight win — San Antonio wasn’t necessarily tested against the Bulls on Monday. They were without their leading scorer, Josh Giddey, who is nursing an ankle injury.

However, Wemby is loving the confidence he and his teammates are playing with, and he believes San Antonio can compete with the NBA’s elite squads.

“I’m also realistic that we didn’t play the best teams in the league yet,” Wembanyama said. “But we’re getting better and we’re going to be ready when it’s time to face them.”

The Spurs will now head back to San Antonio for a five-game homestand, where they’ll face the Golden State Warriors (consecutively), Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks.
