The Minnesota Vikings are returning to action in Week 7 after enjoying some time off during their bye week in Week 6. After a two-week trip in Europe, the time off was certainly a welcome sight for the Vikings, as it allowed them to get used to being back in the United States, while also giving them time to get healthy in the injury department.
When we saw the Vikings last in Week 5 during their 21-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, they were without more than half of their starting offensive line. One of the guys who was part of the crew that had come down with the injury bug was starting left guard Donovan Jackson, and ahead of the team’s upcoming contest, he provided an update on his status moving forward.
Donovan Jackson Addresses His Injury Status
Minnesota was without three of its starting offensive linemen for its clash against Cleveland, as Jackson, Ryan Kelly, and Brian O’Neill all were ruled out. Making matters even worse, Kelly’s backup at center, Michael Jurgens, also missed the game, forcing third-stringer Blake Brandel into action.
The rag-tag group on the o-line held up well enough for the Vikings to escape London, England, with a win, but it’s clear that the team would benefit greatly from getting some of its starters back on the field. With Week 7 upon us, it seems like Jackson is closing in on a return to action after missing the past two games with a wrist injury.
Jackson suffered his wrist injury in Week 2, but he still played through it in Week 3 before undergoing surgery on it afterwards, forcing him to miss time. However, the team believed that he would not require a stint on injured reserve, and based on his latest comments, it sounds like Jackson could suit up alongside the rest of his team on Sunday.
“It feels pretty good,” Jackson said on Monday. “It’s just getting out here, getting confidence in it. The training staff did an amazing job, especially over the bye week, even overseas with the facilities we had. Trying to get it right, trying to get the inflammation down, and I’m just out trying to strike and make sure it feels good.

The 2025 campaign has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride for the Vikings so far. They have been without their starting quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, since Week 2, but the team has managed to stay afloat with Carson Wentz under center in his absence. McCarthy could potentially return to action in Week 7, too, but the team has been coy regarding his injury status to this point.
Regardless of who ends up under center, Minnesota is going to have its work cut out for it in Week 7, as it will be facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Vikings may be playing the Eagles at the right time, though, as they have lost their past two games heading into this one. Kickoff for this contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, and Minnesota will be hoping to have Jackson at its disposal when it takes the field.
