Al Horford Responds To Luke Kornet’s Magic City Letter

The post made by the Hawks on February 26th, promotingMagic City Monday,’ a joint-sponsored event with the well-known club in the city, didn’t gain much attention until a few days later, Kornet responded by making a post on his blog about his thoughts on the move.

“The NBA should desire to protect and esteem women, many of whom work diligently every day to make this the best basketball league in the world,Kornet wrote. We should promote an atmosphere that is protective and respectful of the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers, and partners that we know and love.”

“Allowing this night to go forward without protest would reflect poorly on us as an NBA community, specifically in being complicit in the potential objectification and mistreatment of women in our society. Regardless of how a woman finds her way into the adult entertainment industry, many in this space experience abuse, harassment, and violence to which they should never be subjected.”

Kornet denounced the move and asked that the Hawks cancel the promotional event.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, the Spurs’ backup point guard doubled down and elaborated on his take that has since gone viral.

“I feel like it didn’t really represent what I know myself and a lot of others throughout the NBA felt,he said, per ClutchPoints.I want to make sure that part of the discussion is expressed.”

Kornet also said that he spoke to people within the league about taking further action to cancel the event, which has now taken the internet by storm.

Horford’s response to Kornet’s letter saw NBA fans agree with the perspective of the two. The big men played together on the Boston Celtics for a few seasons together.

According to Front Office Sports, Atlanta has no plans of canceling or changing the event, despite being called out by Horford and Kornet.

Is Al Horford On The Warriors’ Injury Report?

Back to Horford’s status on the Warriors, the 39-year-old center who signed with Golden State over the offseason has been dealing with a number of injuries this year. Before the season, he announced that he wouldn’t be playing in any back-to-back games, and despite the major health concerns across the roster for the Warriors, that has remained true.

Currently, Horford is not listed on Golden State’s injury report. However, the team is still dealing with concerning injuries with no return timeline for Stephen Curry and Kristaps Porzingis. Jimmy Butler is out for the season with a torn ACL, while the Warriors have seen a few players in and out of the injury report over the past few days.

In the team’s latest game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, Horford put up 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists on 45.5% shooting in 27 minutes.

On the season, the center is averaging 8.2 points, five rebounds, and 2.5 assists on 43.5% shooting in 39 games.

Horford signed a two-year, $11.6 million contract with the Warriors over the offseason and has a player option for next year. Golden State is currently 31-30 and will likely be in the Play-In Tournament.
