The Golden State Warriors will have a Curry in uniform Tuesday night when they host the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in their final home game before a grueling stretch on the road.
But it won’t be Stephen Curry.
The Warriors are finalizing the signing of Seth Curry, the younger brother of Golden State’s franchise superstar, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater. Seth is expected to be available immediately and will fill the team’s 15th roster slot, giving the Warriors a much-needed shooting boost while Stephen remains out with a quad contusion.
Stephen Curry, sidelined since last week, will be reevaluated after roughly seven days and is expected to miss multiple games on the Warriors’ upcoming five-of-six road slate.

The signing ends a long-anticipated wait for the Curry brothers to share a Warriors uniform officially. Seth signed a non-guaranteed deal before training camp but was waived when the Warriors were hard-capped at the second apron. By waiting until December, Golden State gains more breathing room under the tax apron.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the signing leaves the Warriors “roughly below $265,000 below the second apron.”
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr openly supported the idea of bringing Seth in during training camp, describing the moment as “long overdue.”
“I think it’s awesome,” Kerr said during camp. “The timing feels right on this. For years, Seth was in situations where he needed minutes and a bigger role, and we didn’t have that for him. Now, with where both of them are in their careers, it makes sense. Seeing the two brothers side by side was pretty awesome.”
Kerr has praised Seth’s professionalism, shooting versatility and ability to blend into motion offenses — traits Golden State views as essential given its spacing deficiencies and inconsistency off the bench.
Seth Curry Calls the Move ‘Special’ After Years of Questions
For Seth, joining the Warriors — even for a short stretch — was a long time coming after more than a decade carving his own NBA identity.
“It’s definitely special,” Seth said before camp. “Feels like a good time in both of our careers for me to be here. I know I’ve said in the past that I wanted my own path, but at this stage, it’s good to be here. I’ve always felt a lot of love from the Bay.”
Stephen Curry said having his brother around is more meaningful than fans may realize.
“I know how he approaches the game. I know how good he is,” Stephen said during training camp. “It’s cool to practice against him and see what I’ve known for the last decade — how he works, how he carries himself. And he gets to spend time with his nieces and nephews, which is cool.”
Seth, 34, is coming off a season in Charlotte where he shot a career-best 45.6% from three-point range, even surpassing Stephen’s best single-season clip of 45.5%. Though he played just 15.6 minutes per game last season, his elite efficiency makes him an ideal fit for Golden State’s second unit — especially while Stephen heals.
Warriors Hope Signing Sparks Momentum During Critical Stretch
Golden State’s 104-96 win over the struggling New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday was just its second victory in six games. With Stephen Curry out and a brutal road trip looming, Seth’s arrival injects timely shooting and depth into a team searching for stability.
Whether he’ll share the floor with Stephen in a regular-season game — a long-awaited moment among fans — remains unclear. But the Warriors believe Seth’s signing is impactful regardless.
“This is a veteran team trying to get back to winning and chasing a championship,” he said. “I’ve watched almost every Warriors game for 16 years. I know their style. Once I get the terminology down, I’ll fit right in.”
