But before the match, the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend decided between his favourite players in a video posted to his YouTube channel.

Ronaldo was asked to “pick the best” as Ferdinand threw names at him.

He started by selecting Paul Scholes over Gary Neville, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Carlos Tevez.

But David Beckham then got the nod over his fellow former England midfielder as a brilliant story was shared about United’s prestigious No7 shirt.

Ferdinand said: “He [Ronaldo] used to go ‘did Beckham score this many goals? Did George Best? Did Eric Cantona?’ He used to go crazy.”

Continuing the selections, Beckham was chosen ahead of Angel Di Maria, only for Ryan Giggs to knock him off top spot.

The Welshman remained No1 as Ronaldo then dismissed Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Javier Hernandez, Marcelo, Xabi Alonso and Toni Kroos.

Ronaldo admitted it was hard to compare two players in different positions – but he did not think twice about picking Karim Benzema over Giggs.

The Frenchman was not winning for long as compatriot Kylian Mbappe was then selected.

With a cheeky grin, Ferdinand then put his own name to Ronaldo.

And the 39-year-old striker gigged as he brilliantly chose Rio over Mbappe and even himself.

Ronaldo is now set to fly back to Saudi Arabia to continue the season with Al-Nassr after enjoying some time in Europe.

He helped with the Champions League draw and then holidayed on a luxury yacht with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez.

Ronaldo has been back on the pitch since his well-earned rest, scoring twice for Portugal in the international break.
