WATCH: NBA Legend’s Son Throws Down Viral Windmill Dunk in College

Jacob Wilkins, the son of NBA legend Dominique Wilkins, threw down a mind-blowing windmill dunk for the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday.

Wilkins finished an alley-oop thrown by point guard Jeremiah Wilkinson during the waning moments of their 120-81 win over Morehead State Eagles. While Wilkinson finished with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, Wilkins added 15 points and four rebounds in just the third game of his freshman college season.

The viral dunk was deemed a “Dunk of the Year candidate” by ESPN, with many analysts claiming that Wilkins inherited his father’s legendary hops, who was famously known as the “Human Highlight Reel” for his explosive dunks in the NBA.

In the same game, Wilkins threw down a few more filthy dunks, a continuing trend for the 19-year-old through his first few weeks as an NCAA-level athlete.

Fittingly, Wilkins has already been nicknamed “Baby Highlight” for his exploits.

Dominique Wilkins, a Proud Father

Back in May, Dominique Wilkins beamed with pride at his son’s high school graduation, while congratulating him on earning a scholarship to Georgia.

“Congratulations, son! Watching you walk across that stage was an unforgettable moment,” wrote the Atlanta Hawks icon. “It feels like just yesterday you were reaching my knee cap now you’re standing tall, not just in height, but in character, drive, and heart.

“Jacob, you continue to make me proud every single day. This is just the beginning of your next chapter. UGA, get ready here comes a real one!

“Keep striving for greatness. I’ll always be in your corner. Go Dawgs!”

Jacob Wilkins, an NBA pro?

While it’s too early in the NCAA college season, analysts and scouts are not betting against Jacob Wilkins declaring for the 2026 or 2027 NBA Draft. The 2026 class — considered one of the deepest in years — is loaded with talents such as Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Koa Peat and Chris Cenac Jr., who are considered locks to be selected in the lottery.

Wilkins, who is averaging 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks through his first three games, still has ways to go before cracking the mock drafts for 2026.

ESPN’s “SCNXT 100” — which ranks the best 100 American college players — pegged Wilkins as the 54th-best prospect in the country at the start of the NCAA season. One wonders if his stock could rise if he continues to help the Bulldogs to victories.

Popular NBA scout Adam Finkelstein feels that Wilkins needs to improve his long-range shooting to emerge as a serious NBA prospect.

“While he will undoubtedly be a totally different player once he grows into his frame, his shooting is also a work in progress,” Finkelstein wrote in July 2024. “His natural touch isn’t bad and he’s capable of making some open threes, but he can also really spray contested ones as he has a tendency to lean back into his release and shoot a much harder ball when he’s not in complete rhythm.

“Overall, Wilkins remains a hugely intriguing long-term prospect because of his highest-level athleticism, explosiveness in transition, and defensive potential, but the overall productivity needs to start being more consistent, particularly in a half-court game.”
