What is the golden cap Harry Kane is being presented?

Harry Kane will receive a golden cap ahead of England’s meeting with Finland at Wembley.

The reason for this is that the Three Lions skipper is set to earn a landmark 100 caps for England when he leads out the team in the capital this evening.

Kane is England men’s all-time top scorer with 66 goals in 99 international appearances.

The Bayern Munich star made his debut for the Three Lions in a 4-0 win over Lithuania in March 2015, with the striker bagging just 79 after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Kane has made 86 starts for England and has captained his country on 72 occasions.

During his international career, Kane has played in more games at major finals than any other Englishman (28) and has played in more competitive matches (83) than any other senior men’s international.

Who else has received a golden cap?

The golden cap has become the modern-day mark of the England centurion.

Manchester United legend David Beckham was the first to receive the iconic item in May 2008 after being presented with it by Bobby Charlton ahead of the Three Lions clash against the USA.

Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard followed Becks with Wayne Rooney the last to receive the golden cap in November 2014.

Who has made 100 or more England appearances?

Kane will become the tenth player to reach the historic milestone – here are the nine other England men’s centurions:

Peter Shilton – 125
Wayne Rooney – 120
David Beckham – 115
Steven Gerrard – 114
Bobby Moore – 108
