Stephen Curry has seen a lot in his NBA career. Four championships, back-to-back MVPs, and a reign that helped the Golden State Warriors become a dynasty. But one of his more surreal moments came long before any of that — during a rookie-year hangout at LeBron James‘ house.
Appearing this week on 360 With Speedy, Curry shared a story that took him (and fans) back to the beginning.
“I remember how athletic Bronny looked… Couldn’t have been more than three or four… How fast he ran… I’m like, he going somewhere. And now, to see him in the league is crazy,” Curry said.
Curry’s Early Memory of Bronny as a Kid
Bronny James — now a Los Angeles Laker after being drafted 55th overall in 2024 — finished his rookie season with averages of 2.3 points per game on 31.3% shooting from the field. While the numbers were modest, his presence on the roster alongside his father made history.
Still, there’s more to the story. What often gets overlooked is Bronny’s production in the G League. He averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists last season with the South Bay Lakers. In Laker wins, he was especially efficient — shooting 51% from the field, 45% from three, and 88% at the line.
For Curry, though, the surreal part isn’t the stats. It’s the timeline. “To see him in the league is crazy,” he repeated, marveling at how time has flown.
A Rookie Curry, A Prime LeBron
That same night, Curry said LeBron casually asked if he wanted to go bowling. “He’s like, ‘Oh, there’s a bowling alley over here.’ I’m like, what are you talking about?” Curry recalled, laughing. “My wrist was hurting after. I was like, damn, I’m not going to be able to shoot tomorrow.”
The moment underscored how different their lives were at the time. One was an MVP with a bowling alley in his house. The other, a wide-eyed rookie hoping to survive the league.
A rivalry built on memories and moments

From there, it was all history. Curry and LeBron would go on to face off in four straight NBA Finals — with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Warriors trading punches in one of the most iconic modern rivalries.
Now, with Bronny in the league and Steph still going strong, the full-circle moments keep coming — reminders of just how far the NBA has come, and how deep the connections go.
