1. Eddie Hearn is Son of Barry Hearn
Born on June 8, 1979, in London, Hearn is the son of legendary promoter Barry Hearn. He began working for Matchroom at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, taking over boxing operations and becoming known for his innovative approach to promoting fights.
Barry worried that Eddie might âend up as one of those rich kids who have no motivation.â To instill a strong work ethic, he assigned Eddie chores like shining shoes and washing cars. By the age of 15, Eddie had started cold-calling to sell window treatments, an experience he later described as âunbelievable schoolingâ for a future salesman.
2. Hearn Has Promoted World Class Fighters
Hearn has been instrumental in bringing some of boxingâs biggest stars to global audiences, including Joshua, Katie Taylor, Canelo Ãlvarez, Gennady Golovkin and Billy Joe Saunders. In the 1980s, he associated himself with Francis Ampofo, Frank Bruno, Chris Eubank and Lennox Lewis.
Hearn has also played a key role in expanding the sportâs reach through streaming platforms, pay-per-view, and international events. Known for his energetic personality and media-savvy approach, Hearn is considered one of the most influential figures in modern boxing promotion.
3. Hearn Signed Boxing’s First $1 Billion Deal
Matchroom Boxing signed boxing’s first $1 billion deal in 2018 when DAZN agreed to broadcast fights.
DAZN hoped to emerge of “the Netflix of sport,” but unfortunately for them, the streaming giants is now a major player in the sports industry.
4. Hearn Promoted the First Headline Women’s Fight at Madison Square Garden
In April 2022, Hearn co-promoted the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano bout at Madison Square Garden in New York City, marking the first time a womenâs fight headlined the iconic venue. The event sold out and was widely regarded as a major success.
5. Hearn Has a Wife and Two Young Daughters
Chloe Hearn is the wife of Eddie Hearn, and the couple has been married since 2012.
In addition to her roles as a wife and mother, Chloe is a businesswoman. She co-founded Chloeâs Beauty Bar in Brentwood, Essex, with Chloe Sims in 2014. The salon was even featured on an episode of The Only Way Is Essex, but it closed in 2019.
Eddie and Chloe Hearn have two daughters: Isabella, born in 2010, and Sophia, born two years later.
