Why Giants Could Look to Sign Former 4th Round Pick to Add Depth

The New York Giants are banking on several young wide receivers making major strides in their development this season, but could turn to one of their top targets from earlier this offseason to add depth at the key position.

Gabe Davis remains available, after the Giants showed interest in him this offseason, and after triming the roster to the initial 53 players, which is set to include a receiving corps of Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, among others could be a viable veteran target.

According to Giants reporter Art Stapleton, it would make some sense for New York to make a move to add Davis.

As Stapleton points out, Nabers has shown insane athleticism and upside, but has been battling through injuries throughout the offseason and preseason, while Robinson and Hyatt are more projection without the track record of top production at the NFL level.

It is rare the an NFL team’s initial 53-man roster resembles what the team that takes the field in Week 1 or 2 looks like, but there is a case for the Giants including Davis and his 183 career receptions for 2,969 yards and 29 touchdowns through five seasons as a piece of the puzzle in the passing game.

Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux’s Unorthodox Training Regiment Revealed

Sarah Stier | GettyKayvon Thibodeaux may be the New York Giants’ most valuable trade chip.

Former Giants first-round draft choice, Kayvon Thibodeaux, has adopted an unorthodox offseason training method to prepare for the 2025 season.

Thibodeaux spent time wrestling, to expand his pass rush arsenal this season.

“Especially on the quarterbacks, until you actually get in the game, that’s the only time we actually get to replicate sacking a quarterback,” Thibodeaux recently told reporters. “I’ve been wrestling a little bit, taking some guys to the ground. I’ve been on bags and stuff, working on my tackling earlier in the season.”

The former University of Oregon standout, chosen No. 5 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been the subject of frequent trade speculation in recent months but is aiming to build on a 5.5 sack 2024 season in what is effectively a contract year.

Bolstering his arsenal of pass rush moves is a positive first step for Thibodeaux as he auditions in a loaded pass rush alongside Brian Burns and No. 3 overall pick Abdul Carter for his first massive NFL payday, be it with the Giants or elsewhere.
