WWE: Clash in Paris – Four Ways History Will be Made at the Premium Live Event

With six matches on the card, WWE: Clash in Paris is set to be a show for the ages. Only three championships will be on the line, but top stars such as John Cena and Roman Reigns are in action.

The fourth ever “Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook match” is set to take place on WWE’s latest Premium Live Event. That match stipulation could be an honorable mention as there are four bits of history to consider going into the show.

Roman Reigns Hasn’t Wrestled a Singles Match Since January 6, 2025

Time and time again Roman Reigns returns to WWE television. His match at Clash in Paris is set to be unique though as “The Tribal Chief” is wrestling his second singles match of the calendar year. Reigns appeared in his first Royal Rumble match since 2020, just months before the world changed.

Regardless of his last Rumble appearance, Reigns was once no stranger to singles competition. While there was interference left and right, Reigns defended his title quite frequently knowing he was only a part-time champion.

Now, he has nowhere to run. Bronson Reed awaits in Paris as Reigns will be wrestling in a singles match for the first time since the inaugural RAW on Netflix. In that match, Reigns bested Solo Sikoa for good in his signature “Tribal Combat” match.

To make even more history, this is Reigns first traditional, non-title singles match since November 21, 2021. On that night, he battled for brand supremacy at Survivor Series, taking on Big E.

For the First Time Ever, This Version of the World Heavyweight Championship Will be Defended in a Fatal-Four-Way

A few triple threat matches have graced the presence of this World Heavyweight Championship, but this one has never been defended in a fatal-four-way. Seth Rollins has three massive challengers standing in the other corners: CM Punk, LA Knight, and Jey Uso.

The first triple threat match for the belt saw Damian Priest defend against Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins. Money in the Bank held that title bout in continuation of Priest cashing in on McIntyre, who had just defeated Rollins at WrestleMania XL.

Back on December 14, 2024, Gunther defended his title against The Judgement Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Now, three challengers step up to the plate for the first time in the championship’s history.

This is Nikki Bella’s First Championship Match since November 28, 2018

Never before has Nikki Bella challenged for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Knowing the title was introduced this year, it makes sense as she hadn’t been seen on a full-time schedule since 2018.

Lynch walks into France as the second-ever Women’s IC Champion. Bella has proved that she still has what it takes, though she has just one singles match since she returned. Keep in mind, Bella hasn’t challenged for a title since she lost the belt to Ronda Rousey at the first Evolution event.

Ultimately, these two will be squaring off in singles action for the first time. Looking back at their history, Lynch and Bella faced off quite a few times on the Smackdown Live brand in 2016. Numerous multi-person matches took place, along with a handful of tag team bouts which saw the two teaming together.

This Version of the WWE Tag Team Championship Has Never Been Defended in a Traditional 2v2 Match on a PLE

There isn’t much of a storied history behind the WWE Tag Team Championships. Since the RAW and SD belts merged at WrestleMania XL, neither set of tag belts has seen the light of day on a PLE.

The New Day’s win over the War Raiders at WrestleMania 41 marked an incredible milestone for those tag titles. While the Motor City Machine Guns and DIY faced off at this year’s Royal Rumble, that wasn’t a traditional match. Those two teams had a 2 out of 3 falls match, something the Street Profits and Wyatt Sicks will not be participating in.
