The New York Yankees, as is the case always, are operating under a microscope this offseason. With other teams across MLB showing early aggression in this hot stove season, many are wondering when the Yankees are going to get involved. Along with many free agent decisions, New York could also consider utilizing the trade market to make necessary improvements.
With the reports that the Milwaukee Brewers want to cut payroll, that means some of their key pieces are becoming subjects of trade rumors. The Yankees certainly have the trade capital, but what are the chances that the Brewers consider moving on from Freddy Peralta?

Brewers-Yankees Trade Proposal Sends Freddy Peralta to New York
One MLB writer seems to think that it’s not too far-fetched that the Brewers could be open to trading starter Freddy Peralta, and he is predicted to be traded to the Yankees.
In a recent Bleacher Report article, writer Joel Reuter predicts that the Yankees will land Freddy Peralta in a massive offseason deal.
Considering the Yankees will have several arms that start the 2026 season sidelined, they are in the market for starting pitching.

Reuter proposes that the Yankees would send three prospects to Milwaukee in exchange for Peralta: RHP Carlos Lagrange, RHP Bryce Cunningham, and RHP Cade Smith. These are the top arms in the Yankees’ farm system.
Now, would the Brewers seriously consider trading Freddy Peralta? The Brewers picked up his club option for the 2026 season, but he is set to be a free agent after this season, and Milwaukee will have to decide whether they want to sign him or not. Milwaukee has a tendency in the past to either trade or let its best players walk in free agency before having to pay them.

Freddy Peralta is Solidifying Himself As One of MLB’s Best Starters
Freddy Peralta is a certified ace, and he’s really solidifying himself as one of the best starters in MLB.
Peralta has three straight seasons of 200 strikeouts and was named to his second All-Star appearance in 2025. He posted a 2.70 ERA in 176.2 innings this past season, and that marks his sixth consecutive season recording an ERA under 4.00.
He also led the NL in pitcher wins (17) this season. The 29-year-old starter has played all eight of his MLB seasons with Milwaukee. During the summer trade months in June/July, Peralta had garnered some initial trade rumors, but he ultimately stayed put as it was deemed he was too valuable to the Brewers. However, those trade rumors have returned after starter Brandon Woodruff decided to accept his qualifying offer.
