The New York Yankees are operating under a microscope this offseason, as they usually always are, but it’s been a relatively slow start to MLB’s hot stove season, and fans are getting eager for Brian Cashman and company to make a big splash. That big splash can either come via a free agent signing or a meaningful trade.
There have been reports over the past week that indicate the Yankees have fielded calls regarding infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr’s availability via a trade. While the Yankees may not actively be shopping for the two-time All-Star, Brian Cashman has been on record saying the lineup has too many left-handed bats, and New York’s front office will do whatever is needed to improve the overall roster.

Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm Linked to the Phillies in Recent Mock Trades
These reports, rumors, and speculation did not deter Bleacher Report from compiling several trade packages that could feature Jazz Chisholm Jr. as the centerpiece of the deal.
One in particular was Zachary Rymer’s mock trade idea with the Phillies, which would send Jazz to Philadelphia in return for All-Star infielder Alec Bohm and relief pitcher Orion Kerkering:
“Chisholm would bring some energy to the Phillies. More importantly, he’d further increase what is already a strong mix of power and speed in their offense. They were one of six teams to top 200 home runs and 120 stolen bases this year.”
GettyAlec Bohm could soon be traded by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. finished the 2025 season with 31 home runs and 31 stolen bases over 130 games. This deal would give the Phillies some flexibility in their infield, as Jazz can play either second base or third base.
While it hasn’t exactly been revealed in many reports yet, Alec Bohm has been the subject of trade rumors for a while now. His hit tool + controllable contract has made him an attractive trade target.
Would This Deal Actually Help The Yankees?
Losing a 30/30 player in Jazz Chisholm Jr. certainly isn’t something New York wants to do, but this trade idea might suffice for both sides.
New York would land an All-Star caliber third baseman and a formidable bullpen option in Orion Kerkering.
Bohm hit .287 with 11 home runs and 18 doubles over 120 games in 2025. Kerkering posted a 3.30 ERA over 60 innings with the Phillies last season.
Now might be a good time to offload Jazz, as his asking price is likely the highest it will be. Another reason for the trade speculation surrounding the two-time All-Star Chisholm Jr. is the fact that this is the last year he’s under team control, and he’s been adamant about wanting an extension, but New York seems not to be thinking about his contract demands at this time.
