Youri Tielemans has been forced to miss Belgium’s World Cup quarter-final against Spain after suffering an injury in the warm-up.
The Aston Villa midfielder captains the Belgian side and has played in all five of their World Cup games so far this summer, scoring twice in the 3-2 win over Senegal in the last-32.
However, the 29-year-old pulled out of the warm-up ahead of the game against Spain and was seen going back to the dressing room with a member of Belgium’s medial staff.
Hans Vanaken replaced Tielemans in the starting line-up, while Kevin De Bruyne was named captain.

According to the BBC, Tielemans had suffered a hamstring injury but the extent of the issue is not yet known.
Belgium were already dealt a major injury blow before the match against Spain as Amadou Onana, who also plays for Villa, was ruled out for the rest of the World Cup due to a torn ACL.
If Belgium beat Spain on Friday night they will play France in the semi-final on July 14.
