Pardee Home Museum needs tea event, docent volunteers
At the corner of 11th and Castro streets, downtown Oakland’s beautiful and historic Pardee Home Museum needs volunteers to help with its highly rated tea events or to serve as docents. Since being acclaimed as the Bay Area’s top spot for tea events, the demand for afternoon teas and tours has sharply increased. These successful teas have been an East Bay tradition for decades.
The museum and its gardens are supported entirely by teas, tours and donations and by their wonderful group of volunteers, more of whom are needed to work the teas served in the home’s beautiful Victorian dining room or its garden. A wonderful group of volunteers await your company.
Please consider volunteering as a tea worker or as a docent to help maintain this elegant 1868 home of Gov. George Pardee, with all its original furnishings intact. For more information about volunteering or the Pardee Home Museum, visit bit.ly/oaklandpardeemuseum online or contact Michael Henn at 510-834-7128 or mhennfam@aol.com.

PIEDMONT
Community wildfire evacuation exercise set for Saturday
Sign up or confirm your registration for AC Alert before this Saturday, when the Piedmont Fire Department will hold a community wildfire evacuation exercise and preparedness town hall starting at 9 a.m.
The exercise will consist of a practical evacuation drill in the Blair/Scenic/Alta neighborhood and an at-home exercise for the rest of the community. The at-home exercise is designed to be simple, easy to complete and high-impact. Instructions will be delivered via AC Alert, the emergency notification system for Piedmont and Alameda County. Sign up to get AC Alert notifications at bit.ly/ACAlert.
This exercise is intended to help residents improve their own readiness to evacuate in a wildfire, while providing an important opportunity for first responders to test protocols. The more community members participate, the more resilient our community will be.
On Saturday morning, the Fire Department urges everyone to look for an AC Alert emergency notification around 9 a.m.; follow the instructions in your alert; and come to the city’s fire station at 10 a.m. for a community debriefing. For more information, or to let city officials know you plan to participate, visit piedmont.ca.gov/evacdrill.
