Jimmy Butler’s Reaction to Buddy Hield Goes Viral in Warriors Loss

The Golden State Warriors were looking to extend their winning streak on Tuesday night, but their 121-113 loss to the Orlando Magic produced something fans are still talking about. In the final seconds of the first quarter, Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield had a miscommunication that turned into one of the funniest moments of the game.

Hield cut toward the lane and could not secure the pass, leading to a turnover and an easy layup for Desmond Bane. During a brief stoppage, Butler turned to Hield and dropped a deadpan line — “I’m never passing you the ball again.” The moment quickly circulated online, adding another chapter to the light-hearted chemistry Butler and Hield have built since Butler arrived in Golden State back in February.

Despite the joke, there is nothing negative behind it. Butler and Hield have developed one of the league’s most entertaining relationships since Butler joined Golden State in February. The two have been trading playful jabs all year and have given the Warriors a shot of life with their energy and humor. Butler has even admitted that enjoying the game again was important after his final stretch with the Miami Heat, and his bond with Hield has helped bring that back.

Warriors Face Bigger Issue as Steph Curry Reveals New Ankle Tweak

While the Butler–Hield moment brought some levity, the Warriors walked away with a more serious concern. Stephen Curry confirmed after the game that he tweaked his right ankle in the first half, aggravating the same area that bothered him against the San Antonio Spurs in Friday’s NBA Cup matchup.

ESPN’s Anthony Slater noted in his update that Curry “seems very iffy” for Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat.

Curry said he will have to see how the ankle reacts after the flight and overnight recovery. “I tweaked it again in the first half tonight. I do not think it is anything crazy, but we will see how it responds,” Curry said.

Even with the ankle issue, Curry finished the night with 34 points on 12-of-23 shooting, including 7-of-15 from three, along with nine assists, three rebounds, and three steals in 34 minutes.

Warriors Depth Will Be Tested if Curry Misses Time

Wednesday’s matchup in Miami ends Golden State’s six-game road trip. If Curry is unavailable, the Warriors will rely heavily on Brandin Podziemski, Will Richard, and Moses Moody to handle additional playmaking and scoring responsibilities.

Curry has already missed four games this season, and Golden State has struggled to generate consistent offense without him. The Western Conference standings remain tight, and every game matters, but the Warriors know they cannot risk their star’s long-term health in November.

Butler did his part to keep Golden State competitive, finishing with 33 points on an efficient 10-of-16 shooting night, along with seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Still, the Warriors could not string together enough stops to close the gap.

Golden State Searching for Momentum as Road Trip Ends

Golden State finds itself balancing entertainment and urgency. The vibes are strong. Butler and Hield supply personality. Curry remains elite when healthy. But the Warriors are still searching for sustained momentum, and Curry’s ankle only complicates matters.

For now, the focus shifts to Miami. If Curry wakes up feeling better, the Warriors will have a chance to close the trip with a stabilizing win. If not, Golden State will need a collective effort to stay afloat until their leader is fully ready.
