Sabalenka vs. Anisimova Women’s Final
As previously mentioned, Saturday’s WTA women’s final will see world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka take on American standout Amanda Anisimova, who is up to No. 4 in the world on the WTA live rankings.
Sabalenka is on a mission to go back-to-back in Flushing Meadows, which would make her the first woman to do so since Serena Williams’ three-peat in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
After coming up short in the final of the Australian Open, and Roland Garros this season, Sabalenka is eager to close out the year with a Slam.
On the flip side, Amanda Anisimova is eager to add to the lineage of American-born US Open champs, following in the steps of Coco Gauff in 2023.
After getting double-bageled by world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon Final, Anisimova is now the first woman in history to bounce back from a 6-0, 6-0 loss in a final, and then make the final of the next Grand Slam.
Sinner vs. Alcaraz Men’s Final
On Sunday, Italian star Jannik Sinner will look to defend his world No. 1 ranking against Carlos Alcaraz in what will be their third Grand Slam final of the year.
Throughout the tournament, both players have looked incredibly dominant, with Alcaraz becoming the first player since Roger Federer to reach the US Open final without dropping a set.
On the flip side, Sinner has dropped just two sets in Flushing Meadows while notably avenging a Halle loss to Alexander Bublik, eliminating fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti, and bringing an end to Felix Auger-Aliassime’s cinderella story.
After never having met in the final of a Grand Slam, the two have gone 1-1 in Slam finals this season, with Alcaraz picking up a remarkable win at Roland Garros, and Sinner ending Alcaraz’s quest to three-peat at Wimbledon.
Following a gut-wrenching retirement in the pair’s Cincinnati Open final just days before the start of the US Open, Sinner now has to defeat Alcaraz to defend his ranking points, and hold on to his spot as world No. 1.
