The Golden State Warriors received some pretty good news on Tuesday after Steph Curry participated in his first full practice in two months. However, the Warriors still delivered some rough injury news ahead of their game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported that Curry looked good in scrimmage ahead of his potential return on April 5 versus the Houston Rockets. He expressed his excitement about playing full-contact basketball again, but he also cautioned everyone about the complexity of his injury.
“It felt great,” Curry said after practice. “I’m checking the boxes. But with this, it’s always unpredictable because I don’t know how the knee will respond, because it hasn’t responded well in the past attempts to get to this five-on-five level. I’m right where I need to be for right now, and I’m hoping that it continues until the weekend.”
Coach Steve Kerr was already ahead of everyone, telling reporters that Curry would be out against the Spurs and would likely be listed as doubtful on Thursday for the Cleveland Cavaliers matchup.
Warriors Announce More Injury News
GettyMIAMI, FLORIDA – NOVEMBER 19: Quinten Post #21 of the Golden State Warriors reacts during the third quarter of the game against the Miami Heat at Kaseya Center on November 19, 2025 in Miami, Florida.
In addition to Curry, the Warriors will also be without Quinten Post against the Spurs. Post left Sunday’s game against the Denver Nuggets due to soreness in his right foot. It was the same foot that had caused him to miss five of the last seven games, as reported by Warriors Wire on USA Today.
Post is averaging 7.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in his second season. He’s had an up-and-down campaign, though he has started in 35 games for the Warriors.
In addition to Post, the Warriors have already ruled out De’Anthony Melton for Wednesday’s game. Post and Melton joined Curry, Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis, who are listed as out, on the injury report.
Gary Payton II and Gui Santos are also tagged as questionable, so the Warriors could have an even more depleted lineup against a red-hot Spurs squad looking to catch up to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the standings.
Curry’s Fit in ‘We Believe’ Warriors
GettyHOUSTON, TEXAS – OCTOBER 29: Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors reacts after making a three point shot in the second half against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on October 29, 2023 in Houston, Texas.
As fans wait for Curry’s return, franchise legend Baron Davis spoke to NBC Sports Bay Area about the two-time NBA MVP’s fit in the “We Believe” Warriors in 2007.
“It’d be fun,” Davis said. “Steph is one of the greatest of all time. He’s a weapon. It’s not like we’ve never played against each other, but I was older, and he was younger. I just think it would have been great to play with him. I think our skillsets would’ve matched or complemented each other.”
Despite being a few years late for the “We Believe” team, Curry still played with several members from that squad, including Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson, Andris Biedrins and Kelenna Azubuike.
