Warriors Reveal Major Stephen Curry Update Following Second Scrimmage

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry can finally sense it. These long two-plus months are ready to go in the rear view.

Let’s cut to the chase: the team has been bad without Curry. It doesn’t even look worthy of a play-in spot, though injuries have plenty to do with its current complexion.

The Warriors are yet to crack double-digit wins in Curry’s time in street clothes. Things will remain that way, because the two-time MVP is gearing up for a return this weekend.

Although Curry’s return date for Sunday against the Houston Rockets has yet to be confirmed, sources reported that the Warriors star has set that day as a personal goal to make his return.

When Curry sets goals, he usually achieves them.

Now can he help the Warriors accomplish their goals (whatever small ones they may be left with this year) to close out this turbulent season?

We are about to find out.

Golden State Warriors bench boss gives another Curry update

The Dubs are coming off another loss in Curry’s absence the other night against the streaking San Antonio Spurs

The game wasn’t particularly close from start to finish, and all Curry could do was watch and search for more ways to scratch that itch to play again.

Golden State sees another season in the play-in, as has been the theme in recent years. Sure, the injuries to Curry and Jimmy Butler, to name a few, are to blame, but it’s easy to forget the Warriors were somewhat teetering even when those guys were healthy and in the lineup every night.

But be that as it may.

Now it’s time to look ahead and achieve anything productive out of the 2025-26 campaign. That would probably be something along the lines of getting Curry healthy, seeing Curry recapture brilliance, watching Curry drag his team through two play-in games, hoping Curry creates magic in the first round against whomever.

Not that hard to do, right? (Begins nervous laughter.)

With two days before Golden State’s next game, fans are dying to learn Curry’s status against Houston.

Yesterday, coach Steve Kerr shed some light on Curry’s progress after his second scrimmage of the week.

“He looked good,” Kerr said of Curry, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. “He looks like Steph Curry.”

Well, well, well.

If he is truly looking like Steph Curry, then, man, what more do you want to hear, Dubs fans?

Curry is the last ounce of hope

Golden State has fallen noticeably below .500. The team isn’t scaring anyone anymore this season. But that’s beside the point right now.

Getting Curry back 100% healthy is a major win. We’re talking about the face of the franchise who is pushing 40. He is finishing his 17th year. Seeing him limp out of a season at this juncture of his career is something no one would sit easy with.

Even if Golden State gets trounced in its opening play-in game, it doesn’t mean much if Curry leaves that game healthy and set to enter the offseason without anything bothering him physcially. After all, sights have been set on the next season — when hopefully the injury bug will go bother someone else.

Curry’s status for Sunday can be expected either today or tomorrow. What we can say for sure is that the former unanimous MVP is closer than ever to a long-awaited return.
