Woman who ‘appeared to have slipped’ fatally hit by CTA bus in South Shore

A woman was fatally struck by a CTA bus Wednesday morning in South Shore on the South Side.

Chicago police say the woman “appeared to have slipped” and was struck by a CTA bus that had just began moving around 7:55 a.m. in the 7000 block of South South Shore Drive.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her name and age have not yet been released.

CTA officials say they “received reports of contact between a #26 bus and a female pedestrian at 69th and South Shore” but further details weren’t immediately available.

The Major Accident Investigation Unit were investigating the crash.
