Looking for online resources and expert advice to make your gardening game grow? That’s just what the longtime gardening columnist Joshua Siskin delivered during the first installment of Garden Party, the new virtual series from the Southern California News Group.
This free monthly series — broadcast via Zoom once a month — aims to provide tips and insights into getting the most joy and productivity out of your gardening experience. Hosted by SCNG’s “Frumpy Middle-Aged Mom” columnist Marla Jo Fisher, the series highlights SCNG’s gardening experts who answer reader questions and tackle common gardening issues.
In the first show, “Gardening 101,” held March 17, Siskin recommended these online resources for delving more deeply into a bevy of botanical topics:
The Theodore Payne Foundation and Las Pilitas Nursery for info on native plants
San Marcos Growers for drought-tolerant plants
Worldwide Exotics, Inc. offers info on exotic drought-tolerant plants suitable for Southern California
Dave’s Garden for all-around gardening knowledge
The next Garden Party installment on April 21, “Happy Houseplants,” will discuss the ins and outs of growing and maintaining robust indoor plants. Other upcoming topics include “Everything Tomato,” “Troubleshooting Common Problems,” “Herb Garden,” Veggies Galore” and more. To attend any of the shows, please register at SCNG Virtual Events.
